Well, I doubt that it's one of the ones you're thinking of but I have a BSA Martini match rifle with appropriate sights in my gun safe. I got it a few years ago for a project that I know will never come to fruition. If anyone is interested and has a FFL store to take delivery, shoot me a PM...

    Bush Jackets

I still have (and occasionally wear) the one I was issued in '69. Makes a great shooting jacket . . .

OMG, that's beautiful! Exactly the kind of thing I would collect if I had ever inherited the 'collector gene'. Well inherited, that man!

Probably ought to make it a Model 95, then. Fending off Grizzlies and potting moose for the winter's meat would make you want something significantly stouter than a 30-30. The SA would do for claim jumpers.

Well, you did mention "old-fashioned" a couple of times so we understand. :D

LOL. The greatest enemy of the American firearms business isn't the anti-gun people, it's the fact that old guns never wear out so there is no logical reason to buy new ones . . . unless you just like the fashion statement.:D

An effective cartridge in a classy little rifle. Let the whitetail and feral pig of Louisiana beware!

Me, too. It speaks to the small holder trying to keep the crows out of his corn and an occasional bunny or squirrel for the pot. The term 'poor but honest' comes to mind.

    Bush Jackets

I can't speak to the question of Indian made bush jackets but the ones made by TAG Safari in Africa seem very nice. Certainly the price point is reasonable. My only quibble is that I prefer one without the belt but that's just personal preference.

My only regret is that I didn't move here thirty years ago. Think of all the geese I could have eaten in that time. Oh well, this fall is the first waterfowl season of the rest of my life! ;-)

Fascinating technology but I still prefer revolvers.

Well put. The personal connection far outweighs the vagaries of the market.

While no great fan of militaralia, you display is impressive. On the other hand, I do love that Savage 99!

Hell, darned near any old wheel gun in good condition is beautiful. That one is just more beautiful than most. Good find.

Flinters are gorgeous to look at. Custom Kentucky's make me doff my hat in appreciation. Don't really want one but they sure are pretty. Kind of like Italian sports cars or thoroughbred horses.

Could never get into muzzle loaders. I owned one once but sold it after a single hunting season. It was a caplock, though, not a flinter. What used to set me seriously dreaming was breechloading BP rifles! Huge ol' long cartridge with a paper patched cast lead bullet? Man, I used to scheme...

I have recently acquired a drilling albeit in 7x56R and double 16 ga. I think it will come in handy this fall in woods where blacktail deer, elk and grouse share the same range and the same season. Living alone I don't have much for an entire elk carcass but do believe I could finish off a...

And it comes in the most affordable double rifles around. If you want to do Africa 'right' and carry a double without taking out a second mortgage on your house, the 9.3x74R is the winning ticket. Admittedly, I haven't got one of my own . . . yet.
