Interesting to see what us "frugal" guys use for boot trees, Abba Dabba uses pool noodles. I take plastic 1 liter seltzer bottles and put them in the freezer upside down with the cap off. When good and cold I turn them over and cap tightly. When they come up to room temp the air inside expands...

The butterflies are nice but too bad they don't fit, too small. They just sit on a shelf and look good.

Gentlemen, The Lucchese hippos I purchased need heel caps and something done with the soles. I really like the double pegged soles and though it's hard to see here, the arch over the shank. The full treatment is rather expensive from a rebuilding specialist and I'm not sure if they would keep...

I know toe bugs are purely decorative but I seem to remember the horizontal lines or "wrinkles" served some purpose. Foumd this on "cultured Cowboy" Toe Bug: Another name for the fancy stitching on the top of the vamp. This is used on certain leathers to help the boot break over properly...

Just an FYI for anyone interested in Hippos, not my auction, these are very nice. https://www.ebay.com/itm/283810670590?ul_noapp=true They're listed as a 9.5D, my experience is these can be tight. I'm a 10D and tried a 10D once, it took me a couple minutes to finally wriggle in and wasn't sure...

Thanks for the info about sizing. I still think they were women's 10D. I've done a bit of Googling and there is a D width for women, at least it's listed on charts. No matter, nice as they were I couldn't even start to get in them. OTOH, my other purchase from last week turned out OK. I've...

I had a disappointment today, I've been looking for some 1950's style Peewees and made an offer for these Acmes last week on Ebay. Nice style and great condition, my size 10D. They came in the mail last night and it wasn't even close that my foot would go into them even though stamped 10D. The...

Brings up an interesting question, I see you're tag line says you're a boot size 11.5 or 12. Will these 12.5's be a problem? thick socks? I'm a 10D, I tried going up to an 11D once, no support had to flip them.

Older Justins from the 1950's-60's had cloth tags sewn inside the boot. They did a line of boots in the 2000's named Justin Vintage that had cloth pulls like yours, might be one of those.
