Oh and I should probably add that the hat was not a teardrop when I first got it, I shaped it that way after washing/conditioning the sweat band. I wonder how much of an effect the steam and handling of the hat may have had on the outcome of the sweatband... Sent from my LM-G710VM using Tapatalk -

I bought this 50's Stetson on ebay. The sweatband looked good when I bought it but was a little dirty so I washed it with saddle soap and put some Picard's Leather Dressing on it. After that, the sweat showed vivid gold stamping and looked great. I flipped the band over and one small area... -

Yeah, this one has an Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union tag, with the liner, I'm guessing 80's? The factory cattlemans crease was pretty stiff but after a lot of steam I made a wider shallower bullriders crease kind of thing out of it, which I really like. It's not all that vintage... -

Touche' Frunobulax! Yes, but... It's not a question of how he grips it, it's a simple matter of weight ratios.... Your typical American beaver is 30 inches long and weighs over 900 ounces... 50 beavers is a lot of beavers to be involved in the making of one 5 oz. hat :p -

Thanks again dh, I downloaded the Tapatalk ap today, up to this point I've pretty much kept my forum activity restricted to after work when I'm home on my laptop, now the ap makes hanging out in the lounge a little too easy, productivity is slipping.... haha -

I don't get why anyone would pay a premium for "distressed" based on aesthetic alone. It's kind of a pet peve of mine, but I will spare u guys the rant. Having said that, I would pay a premium for something to be "broken in" if it improves the comfort or function. That makes better sense to me... -
