I love it when good things come to good people. Put that intention out there and the results can be surprising. Very nice piece, Tony. $400 - $700 is the range I've seen for one of those.
Hmmmm.....
Maybe I should put a carload of some of my vintage stuff together and go see if she wants to do some 'horse trading'. Been meaning to get over that way to explore thifts and vintage shops. Thanks for the specifics!
Alan, that suit is tremendous. It's a perfect fit and style for you. Great color, finish, drape. And from the '30s at that!! Just wonderful - thanks for sharing that with us!
Wonderful catalog. All those shots are real set-ups with actual physical elements, lit beautifully and exposed expertly. No Photoshop to lean on back then!
When I think Sharkskin, I think late '50s/early '60s. With that in mind, I'd go with simple black calf leather split toes. Something sleek. Something like this:
^^ Gee, not bad email68! Looks like a fine fedora. Also looks clean. I've learned that putting them in the freezer (no kiddin') for a couple days will kill any cooties that might be in there. But if the hat doesn't have evidence of moth damage then I'd expect it to be clear.
If it's dusty, try...
The suit has already had a lot of looks but no bids so I'm running it up the ol' pole here. If you are dying for it, then, by all means bid. But if it goes to the end with no bids, you are welcome to send me a PM me here or EM to gene at genecrippen dot com and make any offer you like. I'd just...
Head's up about this and a few other odds and ends I have currently listed on Ebay:

Hey, WB. I was away a couple days.
No maker label on that one. No lining, no nuthin'. It's upstairs right now but I'll tell you, it's one of the shortest even among my '30s bunch.
Antique store finds, actually...
Nifty little leather cig' pouch. Perfect for my Camels. Like new, with (chewed up) box!
Zippo-like lighter with branding from one of my favorite magazines. Well, the old issues anyway...
'30s on the left (much shorter than the other) and late '40s to early '50s on right. I finally 'got the girl'!! Set me back five clams each (ha!) but I've been looking for one of those peekaboos for a while so I didn't quibble.
Those are tremendous! The white part being buck is correct. Much nicer than white colored calf - extra contrast not only in color but in texture too. Classic.
