Dobbs Jet 707 today. It's seen better days but pretty darn resilient nonetheless. Might have to get me another if anything happens to this one.
Apologies for the poor lighting. Was a rather dark day.
Anyone else out there pay a buttload for a hat for it to arrive and be severely disappointed?
Please tell me I'm not alone.
I actually sold a guitar for a hat. (Dumb, I know.) It arrived stained, wrong size, sweatband coming out, ribbon torn, and worst of all; nonrefundable.
Then I ruined it...
Resistol kitten finish. My favorite hat. Paired up with some Harris tweed.
And my nephew in a very small 50s "custom" fedora I scooped up for a dollar.
"Graduating" to fur is a loose term I think. I still wear wool occasionally. Just as long as walmart cotton twill trilbies are avoided, I appreciate anyone's hat efforts. Besides, we can't all be lucky enough to have a Stetson St Regis. Keep your eyes peeled in antique shops, thrift stores, etsy...
It takes some getting used to. Kind of a shame since hats were everyday wear for men back in the golden age (and for us loungers). But the hat definitely suits you. Keep on wearing it!
If you get an OR, I wouldn't say there's much converting yo be done. The brims are under 3 inches. Maybe a rebash into a diamond crease or something if you want, but the crowns on recent ones are very, very stiff.
Try thrifting, find something cheap to do a practice run on. If you feel...
Wearing a moth eaten Canadian "College Club" today. Yet another beater. But maybe wearing beaters and making them look more presentable is my calling...
Probably not.
It's cold country wide. Stay warm, friends!
