I once dyed a green German police jacket black and then used some matt leather spray to tone down the effect.It was worth the effort but it certainly rubbed off for some time after.
They are a very versatile garment and nice to wear around the house and feel good under a parka or something similar. I don't know how the sizing works.It feels similar to a jacket in size 48 with a sweater underneath.Hard to be specific.I would definitely recommend one.
