OK, the hat is here. There's a bit of an issue (see the Ebay or "Ask" threads) in that there was some damage from shipping (the cardboard insert seems to have scratched the brim somewhat). Thanks for all the advice. I just spent about 10 minutes with the kettle and the brush (I bought a soft-bristled paintbrush, as it was actually the softest brush I could find) and I would say I managed to brush out to about a 75% success rate.
