I would recommend a light grey fedora or even a Silver Belly
For what its worth, I would recommend you not wear black shoes with that suit. A medium brown or even a cordovan shoe would be better
I use this photo of French Polynesia as my avatar. It is a photo I took from a motu (small island) looking at the island of Raiatea. I have thousands of travel pictures that are unscanned but this is one of my favorites.
I agree on the price issue and it will always be an issue. There are many extremely high quality alternatives (Art Fawcett comes immediately to mind).
My collection started at least 15 years ago at a store in Menlo Park CA called Fino Fino run by Carolyn Busch. Carolyn has retired and the...
Part of the reason I like the block style is that it fits my face well and I like the wide brim. As with everything in life, its a matter of personal taste and preference. It would be a dull world if everything was the same style and there was no choice. In 1988 I traveled to China and the...
Weather is again temperate in the Bay Area. From my Optimo collection, this hat is Bottle Green with a different bow. The crease is teardrop as you can see
What I meant to convey is the script above the words "Super Fino" appear to my poor eyes to be blurred in the stamping. Graham Thompson told me that the straw body came from Montecristi so I think the test is Montecristi but I cannot swear to it.
I posted these images on the "What Hat Are You Wearing Today" thread but I also thought I would post it here. This is my Montecristi Super Fino from the Optimo Hat Company. The poor focus on the sweat band image is largely due to the quality of the stamping.
The weather is beautiful in the East Bay with temperatures in the low 70s. I had to just had to break out the Montecristi Super Fino from the Optimo Hat Company for today's revels. Sorry for the lack of focus on the image of the sweat band but the stamping itself is the problem.
This is an Optimo in Blue Pearl. The carbuncle attached to this fine hat is me, aka Hats Matter. I wanted to send a selfie to convey the message that I do actually exist.
Interesting Thread and comments on Bourbon. I am an infrequent drinker so I do not have vast experience on the subject but I know what I like and I like to have a Manhatten. Many bartenders these days have no idea how to mix a Manhatten as they seem to forget about the bitters. When I go...
Inspired by Esther Weis's beautiful photo and the straw hat I decided to break out my Montecristi Optimo Panama today. It is the first Panama I purchased and the density of the weave is not as tight as the other Panama fedora style hat I purchased a few years later and have previously shown on...
This Optimo Lightweight Brown is the hat of the day in the rather warm Bay Area. Photos I took in more direct sunlight had image distortion of the hat band which was a distraction.
When I was on a trip to Hawaii a few years ago I stopped in at Newt at the Royal At The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. I had only brought an old baseball cap on the trip and with the sunlight I found this to be inadequate for my requirements. I purchased a moderately priced Panama which has served my...
