Yeah, skin cancer is scary and can be extremely fast too. True but recent sad story: A young woman here in Queensland Australia only just starting life at age 23 saw a doctor about a mark on her skin, was given the OK and a short time later it was getting sore... Saw a different doctor and found...
It was expensive losing that much weight lol, went from size 4xl/5xl pants and shirts down to small/medium sizes 31-32 size waist. Had to replace all my clothes, I could still stand to lose 5-6kg more but at that weight I looked good but kept getting crook, I'm not super skinny now but happy enough.
Howdy,
Many thanks for the kind remarks on my lids 'n ribbons though credit goes to my lovely Wife who did the ribbons for me. That green ribbon was her first solo go, she's only done a few so far and all have been really good. I've not done many myself in the past but she rocks em in.
Nothing...
It looks like it's hardly been pounced at all to me, I've got less than ideal eye sight and I can see straight hairs sticking out all over without my glasses on. I'm a big fan of Akubra and while it's not really about quality I still put finish in that realm, maybe it's just Campdrafts and their...
Envious myself, on 2 counts... Getting a Gannon and the colour combo. From everything I've read and seen they are really, really nice lids, all the enablers here keep me thinking about them lol.
Think I have almost a whole role of it still lol, I never liked it at first so never used it. I blame my wife as it was all her doing that time, even colour pick. Now I love it, less flashy than the super contrasts of the other lid's ribbon.
I'm normally much more cautious and I can't really...
As already mentioned above if you don't like the look with the crown so higher just deepen the bash or change to a style such as tear drop, or diamond that will lower the crown and use up more felt. There's no right or wrong IMHO, just play with it till you are happy with the look, that's the...
This thread is living upto it's name lol, here's some more Akubra overload for your eyes.
Here's a pair of twins, but their obviously not identical lol. Just shows how different the same model and colour of hat can look like a almost completely different hat depending upon the way you simply...
Just as some of us were talking about the thickness of imperial Vs heritage, here's a snap of 2 silverbelly Campdrafts and you can see the differences between the two felts in the same colour/hat. If you look at my heritage model it's certainly still fluffy/fuzzy.
Think I've said it before but I much prefer a band block/keeper to a hat jack style floppy twister, I make my own hat stools which are really just like a band block with short legs. They double as a stand then as well that doesn't affect the brim when stored or wet while drying.
Sorry, those...
Another welcome to the lounge from me as well, the hat jacks/keepers are handy also if you don't wear a hat for extended periods of time if the hat has a leather band. Because they are timber (normally balsa) they also help absorb odor and manage bacteria and stop the leather sweatband from...
Just out in the front side garden, stopped in the shade for a rest.. Wife's still at it wearing her new Akubra Planter, anyways, here's a snap of me wearing the imperial Silverbelly Akubra CD my wife did her first ribbon on.
edit: I would have shown a pic of the wife with hers but I was...
Well as a ty to my wife I grabbed her a new gardening hat, an Akubra Planter (Hemp straw model).
Before putting it on her head she had cut the original ribbon off....ack! I said what if it doesn't fit ? lol, it's the smallest size they make and I had to pad it a wee bit hehehe (used bamboo...
Yeah, I thought seeing it as thick as it was it may have been heritage lol. You may have already seen/noticed I've changed the ribbons on all 3 of my CampDraft's or you may have not. Personal choice thing, I"m not real keen on small ribbons let alone bits that can flop/flap about.
My wife made...
Well Wolf as a nick-name isn't that far stretched when you have Wolf as part of your actual name and you also happened to work with wolves and raptors (birds of prey among other animals also). To those who don't know me, my name or history it's maybe unusual but soon as you knew me, or my name...
Is it imperial or heritage felt may I ask, it looks fairly thick felt. It matters not, it's purely my curiosity and comparing against my own as I have two Silver-belly CampDraft's (one imperial the other heritage) but it looks like my SB heritage felt.
edit: Grats on the new Akubra lid btw, I'm...
It's unlikely wearing a hat will return to the numbers of yesteryear, for most urban and city folks they have less need these days as so much time is spent protected in some way from the elements. We're always in vehicles and indoors, but for many as I was trying to say earlier hats are still...
Hey, lets face it but besides feeding our hat fetishes it's also helping retail & manufacturing industries around the globe in a very difficult time. In my mind it's all a win-win situation for all, that and you wont be 2nd guessing yourself for missing out on that hat that got away......
