The base is a solid wooden base, but on top of the base is a metal can that is about 4" tall and about 6" round oval that has tiny holes in it, but for the life of me can not see how to raise the it up to put anything in there or below it.

Two yellow strings means BIG head size . 7 3/4" 7 7/8"
The largest we made was a 8 3/8" for a man in AL. this spring, when I put it on it rested on my shoulders.

The string color is only for the hatters and plant to know what size hats they can pull from the body. There is no shortage of beaver or rabbit in any body.

The meeting doesn't have to be at a hat shop, or a visit, but it does help, even if we are able to visit a hat shop there is a ton of stuff to do and hang out at in the Windy City.

I fly all the time during a year , and always wear a wide brim western hat, hat either stays on my head or will hold it in my lap. If and when they stop allowing the over size bags to be put in the over head bins, I might put my plastic hat box with my hats in the over head bin.
