What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I think what you’re referring to when you say tunneling is more properly called “creasing”. “Tunneling” is a different phenomenon all together, on sleeves with wool knits such as the A2, when the leaher portion of the sleeve is too long it causes the wool knit to invert into a sort of tunnel...

    Distressing a leather jacket

Thedi leathers has some nice pre distressing. Someone just posted a thread with a new Thedi in tan buffalo and the aging looks immaculate, the leather is burnished and dark along all the high spots and wear areas and lighter underneath. It looks as if someone took a burnishing tool such as a...

This winter's 'big thing' with the kids?

I’d be more ashamed of hoarding all of that wealth than I would be of my familys childhood poverty, personally.

A coat of Pecards for my creaking G-1

Seems to last about a month or less for me but the damn creaking always seems to return on the two jackets I have that creak.

Thedi Leathers Custom Made Horse Hide 40/42

Such a unique and refreshing perspective, as always A-1. I somehow trust your judgement implicitly. Someone’s gonna get an amazing jacket here.

Thedi Leathers Custom Made Horse Hide 40/42

I know many will disagree but if I were you and wanted to keep only one jacket, I’d cut the DD. This one really works well on you and makes more sense given your overall look. But I can also understand your attachment to the DD as it’s just objectively dope af.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Agreed. Looking good, and you can't beat shearling for warmth and comfort. I'd slow it down now or you may end up with a bunch of unnecessary jackets as your taste and preferences continue to evolve.

Footwear to go with our jackets

Have them resole with vibram rubber soles rather than leather, they last much longer and are lighter and resistant to cold and wet, also more absorptive. They can also be done without requiring restitching of the welt by instead using some kind of extremely strong glue, which is much cheaper...

Footwear to go with our jackets

I have the same boots but the J. Crew version which have a pull tab. Love them, such great boots. I've noticed you've mentioned a lot how you don't like to wear boots or nice shoes because you wear them out too quickly. You do realize with good quality boots and shoes you can have them...

    Thedi shawl collar

Disagreed, on his left arm the sleeve hits perfectly at his wrist, on the right its riding a little high but that looks to be because his shoulders are tilted so I'm assuming it's due to the posture in the photo.

Footwear to go with our jackets

In the fall and winter I usually wear service boots, I have black Dayton service boots and brown Chippewa x jcrew service boots, both of which are perfect. In the summer and spring I wear clarks desert boots, leather chuck taylors or Sperry boat shoes, Jack Irwin loafers for suiting up. I've...

    First Aero!!! Battered Tan Teamster

Length is perfect, guys around here tend to like jacket length and sleeve length a bit long and frumpy. Highwayman is meant to be a shorter jacket, I have a size 38 highwayman with a 24" back length and at 5'11 it hits just to the bottom of my belt. I also have longer legs than most but with...

    Leather Trucker Levi's / Lee / Type-whatever jackets!

Nah it's actually pretty short, at 24" back length for a medium which is really perfect in my opinion. It's a relatively current model from a few years ago, can sometimes still be found on eBay if you search Levi's slim fit suede trucker. They really are slim fit too, unlike most American...

    Leather Trucker Levi's / Lee / Type-whatever jackets!

Here's my levi's slim fit suede trucker. Really one of my favorite jackets since I got it this summer. The suede is light but really beautiful color. The only thing that bothers me is this unnecessary seam in the sleeve. The seam bisects the sleeve into two halves needlessly, seemingly just...

    Who makes the best N-1?

The pike bros is 100% wool lining, whereas the others are an alpaca/wool mix. Some people find they're irritated by the alpaca apparently, but from what I understand alpaca is supposed to be hypoallergenic. I think maybe they're just unaccustomed to how itchy it can feel if a course grade is...

    It's a cross-zip (or is it a Grizzly?)

Of course they are, they're tanned with the hair on the hide, it isn't somehow glued on later. The hair is embedded in the follicle as it is in life. The hairs are no more likely to fall out of the hide from use than are the hairs on your head. Note that the hairs in living tissue regularly...

    Simmons Bilt. Which leather?

I'm certainly among the Shinki lovers here, it's a beautiful leather and the one that I plan to get my next jacket in. The overdye leathers are the "teacore" leathers I was referencing, really beautiful stuff. However the one Simmons Bilt gets is neither of those three teacore leathers you...

    Simmons Bilt. Which leather?

Nick fully aniline means there can be no top coat applied, otherwise it's semi aniline. Any waterproofer or sealant applied to full aniline is essentially just some oil or silicon spray to make water bead up like the suede waterproofer stuff you can buy. That stuff isn't really a part of the...
