    Go for the 1" tapering. I am 5'9" with a 43" chest and 35" waist and the size 42 with tapering fits me perfectly in the chest and waist. I am a heavy lifter with large arms and shoulders, and I can probably fit a thin sweater underneath the jacket. The sateen overlay in the arms helps a lot...
