I'll admit to (think I did this years back here to clear my conscience) owning an electric vest. I didn't buy it - my wife did. She saw how cold I was - even with good top shelf gear meant for the cold, and I am talking SoCal cold folks (high 30's-low 40's). I scoffed at it but then hooked it...
THIS is the hardest part of getting a good wool/heavy flannel winter shirt for me. Shoulders, neck, sleeve, check.
Torso, um, I don't play Santa on December 24th at the mall. Why is this so hard?
I have a new Woolrich coming this week. Supposed to be one of their more modern cuts, so I'll...
Thanks a ton guys/gals. I have liked the photos of the really grainy Vicenza and that got me in that lane - plus the colors.
Just don't want a lifeless hide that's smooth. I like my leather to look like a natural product, and that means grain and whatever other imperfections it comes with. I...
I've got one like that - a German WWII replica belt that I use on may Soviet WWII reenacting uniform. Sometimes the double-prong can be a pain - like hangover Saturdays - but I love it and the look. Have one in black and brown.
@SpeedRcrX - I think you own(ed) both Shinki and Vicienza - how would you compare them, weight-wise and thickness-wise?
I really like both characteristics of the Shinki, so I want to stay in that range...
Yep, as has been said above.
I will add my 2¢ as to one thing even a new jacket needs (IMO).
I regularly take a wet washcloth (clean) and go over the inside of the collar/neck. Again, if you look at wonderful old leather jackets - esp horse hide, you'll see many of them have trashed neck folds...
Oh man, wore the GW Ventura last night to the Great Theatre in Hollywood to see L7 and Adam Ant.
I should have taken pics, but I'd have been doing nothing but.
All the black leather there was a mix of hysterical and some scattered amazing jackets - men and women and other.
Some made me LOL like...
OK, we're on the same level here, Nick. I saw a navy A-1 on the Thurston instagram, and I ping'd the guy who owns it for wear shots, but never heard back. It's navy Vincenza and light knits - I'll try to find the pic and post it. I"m embarrassed how much I'm unable to commit to...
Now that's a new idea = the CR in Olive. Don't know why Nick thinks I don't like his as I most certainly do. Jeez, I'm actually disappointed in myself for this being so difficult.
Thanks much @Worf for not rubbing in the A-1 thing. Wait, you did! :p
All's fair in love, war, and jacket flipping. Life would be boring sans any regrets, right? I have a few...
One GW thing is that JC often shows a customers jacket in his photos. While he's ~46, these were NOT made for...
You guys offer up great advice. Although, I now am back to more confused than before ;)
Back to the drawing board. And @nick123 - I do like the olive a lot. And the grain on yours is amazing. Only thing that just put me back on the Vicenza was the recent pics on the Aero page of one and the...
