Willybob - mine was ordered and made in 2010 but I’m not sure when the pattern was discontinued - an email to Areo would confirm. In hindsight I should have kept the cuff straps, I wouldn’t have used them but they do define the Californian pattern. Yours looks very nice indeed!
Correct Mike, they had cuff straps and a breast pocket if I remember correctly. I asked Aero to leave them off, for a cleaner look, this was back in 2010. I kept it for a couple of years before trading it back in for a deck jacket.
I’m 5’ 11” with a 40” chest. The original back length was 25” but after wear and breaking in it’s now 24 5/8”. As mentioned, this pattern is trim fitting, so not one if you want to layer.
Kudu is a lovely hide, heavy but soft and pliable with an almost purple tint in some lights. I suppose if you’re going to compare it to anything, it would be heavy deerskin. As Kudu in the wild tend to lurk in thorny thickets, you do get some scars in the hide which for me just adds a bit of...
Looking at the back view, the length looks spot on for a jean jacket. From the front it does looks a tad short but, as mentioned, the tan belt just draws the eye. Solution, black belt, wear and enjoy it. Nice graining already on the steerhide.
@Peacoat I remember the photos of your Highwayman, many years ago, great looking jacket. Had so much going on lately, all things leather jacket related have taken a back seat - hope all is well your end.
Three of my keepers.
Aero Highwaymen - my very first Aero
Aero Premier 30’s half belt - trim fitting
Aero Kudu Pioneer - heavy but soft, great for layering and so easy to wear
That’s a nice looking Teamster and a good fit. Shoulders will drop a bit as it breaks in, you wouldn’t want tight shoulders if you’re layering - nice looking hide too.
