I'll post them over on the Sombrero thread, should get it back pretty quickly. I changed the size to 4 ½ inches to keep good sun protection with a ¾" curl.
That's a beauty, what's the brim size? I sent off my Akubra Sombrero to be cut down to 4 ¼" with a pencil curl identical to that one, it's exactly what I'm going for size and shape-wise.
These are fantastic looking jackets, I'm sorely tempted but am holding out to find a deal on the one in Mocha Sateen. If I didn't already have a few vintage Lee jackets (101Js, Westerners, and Storm Riders) this would be my first choice in denim! GLWTS.
Thanks, yes. I've no problem with the how-to, more with motivating myself getting around to to do it. What with measuring, making a template, cutting, sanding, and then re-curling the brim I'd much rather just pay a few bucks for a pro to do it, just have to find a hatter that is at least...
Real nice, did you just pick that up on eBay ? If so, I had my eye on it but hesitated due to the colour, seeing the same on someone know caused a tinge of regret, it looks superb. Wear it well, if it's the one I saw, you stole it at that price !
A whole lot over the top, quite literally !
After the initial honeymoon I've decided to cut the brim down on my Sombrero, to make it round or less of an extreme oval, it's just too much hat for me and to be honest I think it looks a bit silly on me as is. The shade it gives even with the curled...
Where I live, at 1500m altitude in a south facing ski resort in the Swiss alps, we experience all kinds of weather, but two constants are the extreme variability of the weather, both seasonally and from moment to moment and day to day, and the bright sun and elevated UV levels due to the thinner...
Very cool, I'm a bassist as well, but it's more on the hobby level these days, until I get a new band together.
Great music, and lovely hat, just the tight amount of wear and a great crease, it's what I ended up with after trying out a pinch crease for a while, it never really looked great...
Thanks, I'll keep my eye on the auction.
Does it fit true to size, and how would you say the felt compares to other vintage Stetsons you've handled ? I'm spoiled by ,y 50s 7X Clear Beaver Open Road and don't expect anything near that quality , but am looking for something I can safely wear out...
Can anyone chime in with opinions regarding the quality of the felt on the '60s No. 1 Quality westerns? Or know when they stopped production of these models?
Thanks in advance !
Hi Bob, are you only selling via eBay or would you do a private sale as well ? I'm interested in the Stetson Number 1 Quality, an earlier one would be a grail find but if the felt was still decent in this era I'd be very interested.
Thanks in advance !
Thanks so much for a fabulous sale ! I can heartily recommend Vanson4thewin for his great communication , speed of shipping, and for describing these belts perfectly and of course for such a great deal.
There was something not quite right to me with the look of crease on this hat, after seeing some Stratoliners in person recently I realised all I had to do was pull the top of the pinch down a bit, it completely changed the overall look of the bash, making the crown a bit more curvy overall...
