Thanks @B-Man22 for sharing your invaluable experience. I started to feel about the same regarding those points (although I am newer to this hobby - 9 years).
I would only add that for me the drive to gather a few good quality jackets is that as the time passes, due to cultural/economic changes...
Thanks for the pics. I think it looks better than the site pictures.
The thing that prevented me from ordering one is not being able to get HH leather panels underneath the fur panels. I was not sure how the mouton panels would hold over time / are able to balance the tensions from the HH...
Interesting topic and surprisingly not so much debated. I was thinking also to ask the same question.
As for me I usually wear some tweed caps with my jackets. I've been wearing models similar to the ones below:

I don't want to be rude but Britney Bones are useless ... breakers. The shipping with them takes forever, the package is routed through countless hubs/postal services. I guess to minimize costs. Regular post is cheaper/faster/more reliable in my experience. If I shop smth cheaper from EU I can...
Thanks for the recommendation. I've been using them since some time. I like them, they are special, rugged, look so American. Different than what you see here in Europe.
I work seated and the high waist is restrictive and makes them a bit uncomfortable. The same goes for the 501 STF that I love...
Interesting what others had to say, I am a bit in between.
I have around 30 leather jackets, 10 pea/over coats, some nylons, fabric, denim jackets. Mostly preowned/vintage but in good wearable condition. Most of them do not get worn even once per year, due to:
- lack of time. I'm always on...
I have one, same size, it's a great jacket. LW impeccable build/quality. For this price it's a steal.
Amazed it did not sell yet.
Good luck with the sale!
Interesting subject.
I partially agree with what's been said bc this thing is so subjective. We have each our own tolerances.
I speak about casual wear since I don't ride.
I think the most versatile lining is cotton drill/rayon/polyester. To me the quilted jacket feels too warm starting from 15...
Glad it worked out. It's never straightforward with these individuals.
I had some bad personal experiences in my country of origin(Romania) when I was a younger. I was bringing my sneakers/shoes at home(15 boxed pairs) with my father. At a gas station someone approaches, shows a customs id and...
Did you have issues with the customs? Were you prepared with invoices or any justification?
They can't wait to jump pretending you are doing commercial activities and that bs...
Ever heard of occupational diseases? People get chronically ill working in chemical industry, nuclear, iron&steel works plants, construction, masonry, countless industries. Does it means those companies are forbidden to operate? No, they have to comply with some norms, meaning reducing the risk...
@Carlos840
I thought also about this, to hang down on a wall jackets, jeans. At least the ones in the current rotation.
Besides the aesthetic aspect there are other advantages as making them easier to access/find.
However I see some additional issues(besides the ones just exposed):
- they will...
@Monitor
Sending the jacket back EU->US and US->EU means paying customs/vat twice. Or you'll have to bother with re-importing procedures each time.
I have a LW NYPD hh jacket labeled 38 that fits like 40/slim 42. I have a LW goat a-2 labeled 40 that fits like slim 42.
Maybe properly completed...
Sorry for this experience. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Who knows what changes in personnel/machinists caused this drop in quality... Maybe without orders in this difficult time he had to downsize... However I can't comprehend the attitude. You pay an arm and a leg for a jacket and you are on...
That jacket looks dry-rot. Likely it was given a washing treatment that stripped it of tanning fats. Fibers started to rub and break in frequent flexing areas.
I share the same opinion. People/ buyers especially look for an item as close to new/unaltered as possible. I do the same.
Despite the...
