Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

^ I really have no idea, but could it be his first and middle initial along with the last three of his serial number? I'm sure someone will know for sure. And, welcome to The Fedora Lounge! - Ian

    Okay a date on an N-3A now ?? :)

Wouldn't it be much too warm in Central California to ever wear this sub-zero coat? Or am I incorrect? - Ian

    M-65 Field Jacket

On the up side, you didn't spend a lot on this one. So, now you know. Why not just get a surplus GI issue M-65? There are many great ones to be had, for reasonable prices, on ebay. - Ian

Fits picture of my BK Werber 1402-P A2.

Or sleep in the jacket for a couple of nights. I did that to begin breaking in my GW A-2 back in the fall of 2010. When I did that, I think the collar broke-in the most. - Ian

    Peacoat advice

I would think so. However (and you probably are aware of this), if you're looking for a coat in the winter, on ebay, the price will likely be higher than it would be out of season. Then again, the selection right now is much larger. - Ian

[Movie + Child Actor = Box Office Bonanza]!

Weezer: Stymie, where do you ever get such ideas? Stymie: "Boy, I'm full of ideas when I'm hungry." Dorothy: "Aww, I knew ham and eggs couldn't talk." Stymie: "Well, they sayin' hello to me stomach riiight now!" Too funny! (And, that's just the tip of the iceberg in this short) - Ian

[Movie + Child Actor = Box Office Bonanza]!

I agree wholeheartedly! By the way, I probably haven't seen that short in over 20 years, but it's still vivid in my mind. I think of it every time "Stymie" comes to mind. - Ian

Pike Brothers, 1944 N-1 Deck Jacket Sizing help???

I wonder if the cut on many of Pike Brothers jackets/coats are a bit "off." I purchased their Navy Deck Zip jacket in the Spring and the arms were way too long (2 inches). I too had to have mine tailored and it came out great. However, this shouldn't be something that you have to do. I take a...

What was the last TV show you watched?

That series is addictive (yes, I said it). Seriously, it's great and Nicole isn't too bad either. I love the 1904 Mansion project. But, it really ended abruptly (at least the episodes of it seemed to). - Ian

Best hanger options for your leather

I have a Good Wear A2 and used a hanger for the first month or so after receiving it, but I got worried that the hanger might leave it misshapen (if you will) in the shoulder area. That was in the Fall of 2010. Since then, I have stored it on the top shelf of my coat closet or have hung it by...

    Military spec M65 Combat Jacket

I have a 1972 GI issue/mil spec Alpha Industries manufactured M-65 field jacket. I received it in mint unissued condition a couple of years ago. I had owned an M-65 in the past and never cared for the hook and loops on the cuffs. So, I took this 1972 M-65 to the tailor and had him remove/modify...
