regarding your couch leather...what it looks like...chrome tanned (that accounts for the blueish colour in the middle, topgrain leather (what that means is the natural grain is still present) dyed on the suede side, and possibly vat dyed, with a clear finish or semi or possibly pigment finish on...- himelator

Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...
small reference....I am still waiting to get my run of boots made....they are cordovan (shinki) but not shell cordovan...the difference is the shells are two 9 inch dinnerplate size discs inside the bean shaped piece of horsebutt that is the whole piece of cordovan. Real McCoys makes both...one...- himelator

Schott goes after the Restoration Hardware crowd
I did look at the restoration hardware guys jacket...and it is also an early buco racing shirt...notice the welts on the original jacket...along the front zip is i wind welt i think...also it has the longer tunic length of an older one...but the pictures I found were quite small and my glasses...- himelator

Looks to me like they copied my unlined racing shirt...which was itself designed from a 1940s buco unlined racing shirt. Of course they didnt build the first motorcycle jacket or the first zippered jacket that is just marketing but like all good fashion companies including myself imitation is...- himelator

identifying so the big problem identifying a specific brand in this type of jacket is the "commoness" of the pattern. However the easiest and likely only way is to note the ribbing knit, zigzag rayon sharkskin liner and the unique egg yolk? sleeve liner? I cannot tell what the fabric is but...- himelator

Opinions on HimelBros 1920's jacket fit
Hey all ....generally I dont pipe up a lot about these issues on the fedora lounge.....but I thought I might address this ongoing discussion of price. It makes me uncomfortable when people discuss price and then compare jacket costs amongst makers....its all apples and oranges...I make 4 or 5...- himelator

couple notes about the design...it was a 1930s canadian design...copied by a few companies down here in the schmata district of spadina...and showed up as far away as vancouver. it was euro inspired..with the cafe collar most of the time and the funny angular tabs...the shell design was a way...- himelator

Joseph gould Ahh...yes the Joseph gould and sons...this was the inspiration for the back of the Avro......I intend one day to revisit new designs such as that one but right now I am swamped with costs. Each new jacket costs quite a lot to develop and I am still working on my retail model...- himelator

one more note...I designed the Avro...it is a unique combination of 2 classic jackets...but I have never seen a halfbelt motorcycle jacket quite like that...I canadianized a leathertogs jacket and added the half belts to sweeten it- himelator
