Aero Wayfarer 44
Brown heavy CXL FQHH
Weight about 6lbs
Stiffness: starting to feel broken in but still stiff enough to stand on its own.
Comments: weight distribution is very even across the shoulders, jacket is very comfortable. Aero made this jacket for me, to my measurements, and it...
Aero Board Racer:
I don't have a Board Racer any more, so I can't comment on that one accurately.
From memory it was a 44, well broken in CXL, I think fqhh, and a tight fit when I was at around 170 lbs. I felt like it was an inch too narrow in the shoulders, and I felt constrained wearing it...
A recent exchange in another thread got me wondering about this topic.
@Carlos840 and some others have pointed out their unfavorable fit for jackets that concentrate their weight on the wearer's neck, rather than distributing the weight evenly across the whole of the shoulders.
I haven't...
If you're patient, watch ebay for California Creations jackets in size 46-48. Most are black, but I had a brown one once which was very, very nice, and I think would have been exactly what you are looking for. Sadly the company went out of business a few years ago, but they made a good product...
It depends on the paint and also the leather.
Before you go and ruin something, it'd be a good idea to experiment. If you can find a sample of the leather in question, you can paint it and try various methods to remove the paint.
Of course, that's a big if. But it will be possible with a lot...
The leather 's own pull up might be all it needs, if you try just rubbing it, it should darken and blend a bit. Then see if you want to add more. Do it sparingly, it's always possible to add more.
CXL break-in. Just wear it. Put the time in. That's all for me.
I have treated stiff CXL with Pecard and had it instantly become pliable, and if that's what you want that's the only shortcut I'd recommend. Everything else is artificial aging or abuse. The leather can take it of course, but why...
It wouldn't be the first time I've forgotten about something.
I'm not trying to deny anyone else's experience or opinion on the matter.
But now that I am curious, I'm going to try on a few of my jackets and pay close attention to this over the next few days, and see if I notice it.
I have to say that I have not noticed a problem with the neck/collar on any of my Aero jackets, with the exception of one cafe racer which is too tight for me to snap the throat closure.
I've owned a lot of their jackets over the years, and still have a lot of them. I've never heard of this...
Looks like it fits pretty well. Just wear it and break it in. If it gets uncomfortable, take it off for a bit, then wear it some more. The Board Racer is a peculiar fit, but you look like you have the right build for it.
The Ridley is a different model jacket, a different patterned MC jacket with a different cut.
I believe they can put J-106-styling onto the Ridley pattern, replicating the pocket layout and so forth of the J-106 on the pattern of the Ridley, to make what is essentially the slim fit J-106...
I like full belted motorcycle jackets, always have. Without it may look cleaner, more streamlined. To me they just look incomplete. I also like epaulets, but I think they're more optional, and can live without them, although they are practical and useful for gloves or hat stowage. A belt is...
The polyester fleece they used on their jackets back then is so much nicer than what they use these days. The new stuff just looks thin and flat. This stuff will keep you warm in winter.
I bought most of my sweaters from ebay, and had great results. Like new condition, and maybe 1/3 the price. Some of the hand knit makers are REALLY expensive, $300-400 new, but you can find them used for $50-70. Quite a bargain.
Of course, I now own four plastic tubs full of sweaters, so...
Outdoor Knitwear
Aero Leather
Pendleton
North Sea Clothing
Black Sheep
There's a variety of Irish brands that do hand knit fisherman sweaters... I don't know them all very well, but have picked up a bunch of different ones over the years through ebay (Carraig Donn, Gaeltarra, Blarney Woolen...
