Santalum derby shoes in natural cxl with white stitching and Dr. Soles. I chose them because they are the only Indo maker I found that uses 5+oz leather for the uppers and don’t line the shafts.
Pros:
*Quality and stitching are comparable to other makers I’ve seen.
*Uses thick upper...
I’m not a big fan of extreme skiving (below 2.5oz) for the same reason I don’t like high SPI (higher than 9 spi). I’ve seen leather tear in both instances. I’m talking about single layer, not triple layer skived leather. My santalum shoes are skived to less than an ounce where the vamp meets...
This is correct. The belt buckle is solid brass with a nickel coating. I’ve also never worn down nickel plating in any of my belts. If you want a stainless buckle, I would suggest going with a leather gunbelt company that has a removable buckle secured by chicago screws.
The arms are a little long. You might be able to get away with a smaller size if you don’t layer underneath. I own the Schott slim fit version because the regular one is too boxy for me.
These are fashion jackets made with highly corrected leather. I got screwed and paid too much for one not knowing that Schott licenses out their name to foreign distributors.
I sold by black wills (pics in this thread) because it was such a bitch to take on and off without a lining. The new version is cotton lined, but I feel that 24oz is still too heavy for everyday use.
Kind of reminds me of how I used to wear 5oz, 7-8lb leather jackets years ago.
24oz waxed American canvas is going to be a lot more than 12oz Chinese made canvas. It’s no different than Japanese denim brands charging $300-$400 for a pair of jeans.
The Wills jacket is definitely a utility design that was tweaked with better materials, design, and construction to be more hipster-esque. It’s not any different than guys on here wearing Wesco, White’s, and Nicks boots. I can vouch that Ship John products are on par with Japanese makers when...
Stock model on 55last worn less than 10 times. Unfortunately, it is just to wide for my feet. I would say this should fit a brannock 10EE depending on how your foot is shaped. Plenty of volume in ball and toe area.

I don’t think that style and length of jacket fits your body type. You should probably go with a waist length jacket without such massive pockets. There are some styles of clothing that I like on their own but don’t look right on me.
I wear all my shirts untucked but only wear short and long sleeve tees under my leather jackets. I make sure that they only hang no more than 2in below the hem. If they are slim fit the bottom of the shirts unusually stack on my hips preventing them from hanging too low.
Take a pic with the jacket open. The sleeves are on the short size for mu taste especially since there isn’t much taper in the forearms and the wrist opening is pretty large.
The white’s 55 last fits me pretty well although it does tend to have a lot of room in the toe box in both height and width. Almost feels a little sloppy because of so much room although the ball and heel area feel good. I have a pair in the c461 last on order and will compare when they arrive...
