My maple bainbridge is on an Aero and the blue is on a Vanson. The maple is a lot more grainy and soft while the blue is more uniform, stiff, and waxy. I also feel that Vanson uses better clicking and tries to match the panels based on grain and thickness. They are both beautiful in their own...
The TB leathers (bainbridge & Vancouver) for Vanson are really nice, although they are about an ounce thinner than the comp weight. I have 1 each in blue and dark maple bainbridge and a dark hickory Vancouver on order. Heard the Vancouver is a little heavier than the bainbridge.
I only like the half sole if there is a double midsole or single if the welt extends past the arch to show 2 layers of leather. Half soles with single midsole looks a little out of proportion to me.
I know those scrapes are superficial and not very deep but how did you get all of them in only a few months? Do you go boar hunting in it? Lol
In all seriousness, it’s a very nice jacket.
The only thing I worry about is the “plasticky” coating they have. Not sure how that’s going to age after years of wear, but mine looked fine after a year.
Not for protection from impact. It will give you a few more seconds of slide time before wearing through compared to a cheap leather jacket. It’s also pretty boxy with poor mobility which isn’t good for riding.
Can you give us more info on what your looking for in a jacket? Protection, armor...
There is nothing wrong with the new comp weight leather if you go in knowing what the intended use of the leather is for. It’s about 5oz, top grain with some type of coating (not sure if it’s pigment). It is very uniform in thickness and density and has very good water resistance which is...
I owned a few pairs of Chippewa’s and wasn’t impressed. Lots of man made materials used in the shoe (e.g. foam filler , poron insole, fabric lining), and their qs wasn’t the best for the price.
I second that the flathead engineer boots are awesome, but definitely go 1 full size down from your brannock. They also fit like an E with high instep.
It’s annoying how Aero is so against putting a leather strip on the hem. Yeah, it might be harder to replace, but the lining will last tenfold bc the bottom is really the only area that receives friction.
Go full custom with Johnson leathers with a 15in drop. No other jacket maker will have a pattern to make you a slim/fitted jacket. You can start with 5* to nail down your jacket measurements and only be out like $300 with a fairly nice jacket. You’re like legit bodybuilder dimensions.
I’ve lost too much weight and have a size 38 that fits better. Worn for one season and in great shape. I did remove the zippers from the hand warmer pockets and cut the wrist gusset (langlitz style). Has quilted insulated liner. Weighs about 5.75lbs.

I like having a little more room in the toe box. There is no pain or pressure spots for me, it’s just a snug fit all around. The interior heel counter lining is very thick and locks your foot in these boots. These boots actually fit really well with darn tough light cushion boot socks and will...
