    I'd say lighter medium. My Sears hercules is much heavier, but I've felt other jackets that are lighter than this.

    It is not just design. It's how the jacket fits/the shape of the jacket. Yes, that does affect the silhouette and how it looks. It also affects how the jacket feels on a person. It goes beyond just the basic p2p, shoulder, back length, and sleeve measurements... FAR beyond.
