Candidly; there are many here with a greater knowledge and experience with Stetson hats. I think your question went unanswered as long as it did because so many ‘newbs’ appear here with a recent find or inheritance and seek only valuation of their hats and offer nothing as members.

What HJ said along with the lack of flex in Caiman because it’s the boniest hide of all the reptiles used in boot making. Also, Caiman doesn’t take as well to the tanning and dyeing process in the same fashion as alligator and crocodile. Probably why there’s no color saturation in those seams...

Big fan of the show, Perry and I've wondered about the hat myself. I haven't found anything online outside of other discussions about what it may be. With the bound brim and the blocking I think OR/clone with a leather band is a safe bet.
