Nicer in person than in photos, and fits like a second skin. I think I found my forever bootlegger. I can't believe this was up for sale for over a year, and at the price offered. @jacketjunkie was great with communications, including post-sale, when the tracking didn't update for 12 days...
It must take a huge amount of skill to get the hair to lay smooth. I wonder how it ages, if it will develop bare spots. It's not something I think I could pull off, but it's certainly striking.
The very best way to survive is to avoid the accident in the first place.
That means training, control, and staying within your limits. Give yourself as much space and reaction time as you can. Stick to familiar routes and expect the unexpected. Always be focused on what you're doing. And...
There's no way to make a motorcycle rider death proof. It all comes down to trade offs. Generally, the more protection you can get, the better.
But there's also other factors: weather conditions, comfort, ease of donning and doffing, storage needs, pockets, ventilation, visibility, and wearing...
For actual riding, not posing, and for widest purpose, my best motorcycle jacket is my First Gear Scout IV.
I've probably had it for a dozen years now, and I think First Gear used to be Heine Gericke, and later changed their name to River Road, and from there I haven't been following them...
Langlitz doesn't have a style like that, but it's possible they could do something for you fully custom, but it'd be very expensive and a long wait. But definitely worth visiting with them and consulting in any case.
It's all subjective. I still hold Aero in higher regard overall, but they're really two different companies doing different things. There's some overlap, of course.
Aero make reproductions of classic patterns, pre-1960, at premium quality, one at a time, by craftsmen and women who do it all...
So, the two LW jackets I have currently are:
- Buco Rider, in size 42, which I bought from @lina many years ago, which is a motorcycle cafe racer type jacket, with a D-pocket on the chest
- Ryder half-belt in size 44, which I bought from @ton312 . I think if you like the Suburban, the Ryder...
I've owned a few Lost Worlds jackets, but not a Suburban. The style does look to me a bit bulky. I can't comment on the sizing question, but it would make me nervous and think twice about ordering, so I appreciate your dilemma.
I'll pull out the two LW jackets I do currently own when I get...
Yeah, looks like they are not allowing as many customizations as they used to, and maybe that's in order to stick with authenticity for the military jackets. A few years ago they dialed way back on the amount of customization requests they would allow, but it wouldn't hurt to ask about doing a...
You can do a ANJ4 with custom fur colors. I think you could add pockets to the Irvin. I've at least seen Irvin jackets (or knockoffs) that had pockets. Aero might not do that level of customization anymore to their patterns.
I'd probably go with the ANJ4. But the Irvin sure is a good looking...
The CXL steerhide is, if anything, better than the FQHH.
The other midweight HH leathers Aero is offering currently all look great. Vicenza, Jerky, Kelpie, Badalassi... it's tough to decide between them.
