Brim has been reduced with an under-welt by local hatter probably--doesn't look like factory work with big visible stitching on top and not entirely even cut. Corded sweatband stitching is consistent with the dating suggested above.

This is a very vague term which can vary in its application. In general its heavier than a lightweight-but lighter than a Western weight(also somewhat non-specific) so its a mid-weight. No standards for this sort of thing among manufacturers or descriptive accounts.
