The Henry Ford method of color selection...;) I also have mostly black, with one exception. Online pics show that Blackrock darkens natural-colored hides one shade, to beautiful russet color. Handymike is onto something, as usual. Looks like very good stuff.
@JMax @handymike , does Blackrock darken lighter leather? Conditioners like Pecards and Obenaufs do (at least temporarily), curious how Blackrock does in that department. Thx.
I think wax may help a little in this situation, actually. It will help the thread slide inside the holes instead of biting into the leather and cutting it. But "little" is an operative word here. If, as @Aloysius says, the leather is skived (thin), stitch density high (perf), and garment...
Look up posts by @dudewuttheheck about his Vanson C2, and maybe his Youtube piece on it. Just an awesome jacket, his is rarer because the hide has more grain. Most C2s are smooth cowhide. Such lovely jackets, totally under the radar (except, apparently, in Japan).
Vintage Vanson C2 just came in. This may be the best-patterned Perfecto-style jacket out there. Soo comfortable. Perfect length. The cowhide is thick and soft. TFL-ers looking for a nice cross-zip really should give the C2 a chance. @dudewuttheheck has already showed what a great jacket it is...
White Label HD Sportster One Pocket, $300/offer. Nice.

Let me get this straight: the guy is in Mexico on vacation, hitting sightseeing sites, bars, and beaches, all the while identifying vintage jackets on old American movies, in a bar, no less. That's dedication.
Because most of the (very high) price you pay is for the branding. It is fine if you want to pay for the prestige of a luxury brand. Most here would rather pay for quality hides and workmanship which usually amounts to about 1/2 of Chapal prices or less (ballpark).
The jacket will definitely go well with your bikes! The leather taylor in Berkeley - is this the Hungarian guy? I forgot the name, but there is a pretty famous leather repair shop there.
