    The Stetsonian Institution

Stetson Stetsonian, Extra Quality. Has 2 3/8 inch brim and 5 3/4 inch open crown. I think this is a 1920's hat if I can read the Lot Number correctly, which I think is something like 5X781. There's no tags in hat. Serial number on sweatband begins with the letter D. An Extra Quality hat was a...

Photos of the Five Points intersection in the heart of downtown Atlanta in 1950 showing the Wormser hat store on the left. Photo found on Facebook. This is the intersection of Peachtree St with Decatur St/Marietta St and Auburn Ave.

What hat are you waiting for today?

Stetson Stetsonian, Extra Quality. Brim is 2 1/4 or so. Might be from the 1920's or early 30's because the sweatband joint at back isn't sewn.

    The Official Stetson 25 Thread

I figured about 1952-53 for the plastic. That hat looks like late 40's to early 50's.

    The Official Stetson 25 Thread

You're fighting a losing battle. I've seen at least a couple of dated or documented Stetsons from the early 60's that have the keyhole tags instead of black square tags. Not going to waste time on this subject. That second hat of yours is interesting. What paper tags are behind the sweatband...

    The Official Stetson 25 Thread

That's going to be a late 50's hat at the earliest, if not early 60's or so. It's absolutely not from the 40's.

    Stetson block profile numbers

Block Number 406 or 405. 7 1/2 inches. Stetson Tom Mix Clear Nutria, 1920's to 1930. I really think this is a 405 Block with 7 1/2 inch Depth, which would be a new block number, I think. I've seen a couple others including a hat Brent owned with the same Depth.

    Pre 1940s Stetson Westerns

As badly as I wanted the Stetson hat box to go with my Tom Mix, (which was REAL bad), I would have had to bid $1800 to get the box and hope it didn't get bid up any more, so I had to give up trying.
