Early this a.m. I celebrated my 70th with a trip to the ER. For this special birthday occasion I wore my rare, hard to find, Ram Truck ball cap. The conclusion was that I had some arthritis, narrowing of some vertebrae, and some deterioration of some discs. Painful stuff. -
Hat making?? Learning Millinery..
You're welcome buddy. As far as the difficulty level in sewing the binding to a curled brim, it's fairly easy. It's more time consuming than anything else. Especially if you're sewing by hand. The only difficulty I find when hand sewing is that my back gives out if I'm sitting too long. -

Akubra Campdraft
The Campdraft is going to have a wider brim than the hat Heston is wearing in that picture. His brim looks to be either a 2 1/2 or a 2 5/8 as compared to the Campdraft's 2 3/4 brim. Not sure what the open crown height is on his hat. Could be either a 5 1/2 or even 6 inches. In any event, yes... -

Looking for info on this vintage Resistol hat
I'm guessing maybe late '50s-early '60s with the red sewn in liner and the look of the manufacturer's tag. I've worked on a gang of Resistols and other Byer / Rolnick hats, but still am no expert on dating them. Just a guess. Hopefully someone will chime in who has more expertise. -

Definitely agreed, watching old movies. I especially like the classic fedoras you see in film noir from the 1940s - early 1950s. Murder My Sweet with Dick Powell had a nice collection of classic fedoras. Out of the Past with Robert Mitchum was another good one. Glenn Ford and Alan Ladd also... -
