I agree, issues with the upper arm and shoulder. Does not look good. I have a similar Block in Steerhide that has had some mods.
I typically stay away from these issues. I'm not sure anything can be done to repair these sensitive areas.
It is a Special Jacket for me. The history always add to the character of a Jacket, gives a place in time. I do have a Sears bought in 1951, but this is the only jacket that has a reference to my birth year, 1952.
It is rare to get a story with the jacket.. I don't ask much anymore. I'd be...
1952 Monarch Steerhide motorcycle jacket. Purchased from a member from the great state of Missouri. He Purchased this jacket at a gas station in Sturgis South Dakota from the original owner who bought it in 1952. The only jacket I have from my birth year.
Check out the video on my YouTube...
Yes, this is a California Sportswear jacket. I have one with the original tags; MW and CSC horsehide tag. I had another that did not have any tags as I recall, also had side zips and belt removed. I have also seen this style without the side zips.
I call these transitional Aviators, The...
These were called, Leather Shirts and Racing shirts. This is from the Brooks 1973 catalog:
Brooks was a true American Icon in Leather Sportswear.
You found a well worn one. Nice.
This is my early 60s split back. It has a ghost racing number on the back. You can't see it in this pictures.
Early 60s Taubers straight zipPolice jacket. Leather on the orange label jackets are not noted. Not horsehide. Measurements said too big, but it fits fine. Taubers are a favorite.
That is a beauty! Looks like Capeskin in the interior with the rough out. Is the surface course? not smooth like suede?
The zipper says mid 40s.
Fall here is great weather for a suede.
You should do a deep dive into this company. They were prolific maker. I'm not award they made jackets...
Yes, this jacket has been advertised in the past. You agree that zipper is not original. I have a theory on the maker, Blatt of Chicago. these early Sears wool lined went through some changes in their short life. I will post more details in the Sears MC thread.
I figured too big even when it was laying on my porch. It is definitely a size 46 on. Probably weighs 7 pounds. The seller did an excellent job on the loose zipper tape. At 180 pounds it is big through the shoulders. When i get a heavy shirt on it will be fine. It is a cool jacket with...
4 California Sportswear jackets. 2 on left Cowhide, 2 on right Horsehide. The Aviator in the corner has a Wards label and late 40s. The others are 1950s
Taubers just arrived. Thought it would too big, but it is OK. Got it here. Thanks to the seller. Nice job on the separated pin.
Great staight zip Police jacket.
Interesting early Hercules wool lined. This was made by the earliest producers for Sears. I have yet to determine the maker though I have an idea. This jacket is among the last of the wool lined. Distinctive by the full Kidney panel, c.1950. I have one like it in Green interior also a size...
