What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?
My most recent vintage wool jacket pickups. The burgundy one is dated to 1939 thanks to @jeo but I don't know the maker. The brown one is a Sears Hercules thanks to info from @tmitchell59 and I think it's from the early-mid 40s- dudewuttheheck

(Trigger warning) Are we giving too much credit for wabi-sabi/Japanese craftmanship reputation for uneven graining (especially in high visible area)?
This isn't wabi sabi. Especially in Fine Creek's case, they really try to make mismatched panels on purpose on some of their jackets. That purposeful mismatch is not wabi sabi at all. How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?
My first "new" and custom jacket for quite some time. Just needs the buttons on it. Should fit well. I had Himel make it very short like my J22, though not quite as tapered due to the different style of jacket.- dudewuttheheck

Opinions needed on an RMC J-24 fit
Yeah originals do fit better based on my experience. RMC got the general feel of the pattern, but not the actual fit. OP, thay jacket just doesntclook like the right jacket for you. It's not flattering. I think you need a slightly shorter, more tapered jacket- dudewuttheheck

Yeah not crazy tall, but still significantly taller than me so I can see why length of many vintage jackets could be an issue for you. And yes the short suit jacket isn't a great look. I know I love short casual jackets, but the short/skinny suit look is something I got over once I stopped...- dudewuttheheck

Yeah if there's one good thing about being below average height, it's being the right size for great vintage jackets. How tall are you? You must be fairly tall if you wear high rise trousers and need a 25" back- dudewuttheheck

For the record I tried that jacket on at Schott a while back and it was massively too long on me. I'm 5'7" 170 like the OP, although I think we have different body types. Either way, I felt like the jacket was at least 1.5" too long in the body for the style.- dudewuttheheck

If you look at actual vintage photos rather than the drawings, they do tend to sit higher than the drawings indicate.- dudewuttheheck

That 25" was measured from the top of the collar. That's how they measured it back then. So that would make the jackets 22.5-23" by our modern measurements while the Schott is still 25" by our modern measurements and more like 27" by the old style. No it isn't. Historically, aviator jackets like this are usually shorter. This jacket is too long in the body as well as in the sleeves I know you said you could take care of the sleeves, but you can't fix the body length issue.- dudewuttheheck

It's certainly possible. My wool and leather jacket is from Spiewak/Golden Fleece with a Golden Fleece label and is extremelysimilar in colors to his jacket.
