Not at all! I'm 183cm tall, and presently 84cm around the belly button, and 80kg total on the nose; in the photo (pre summer holiday!), I was probably closer to 82cm.
I'm of the mind that a waistcoat should be snug; for what it's worth, I think Aero told me the Shackleton is as snug as the Type...
I got wax from a neighbour that has bees, but I don't think it matters much--I guess mine was yellow, but either way, unless you had white leather, I doubt it will significantly change things.
Ah, just to qualify - my HH was *unfinished,* not natural; my other jacket is natural CXL HH, and it just turned into a chestnut brown over time; see my other posts.
So to be super clear: my method seems to only work on *unfinished* leather, of which I think Aero only has one? If it's already...
You'l have to experiment, but 1:1 is too wax-heavy, it won't work in very well, so somewhere around 1 part wax and 3 parts neatsfoot oil, by weight. If you try it, show your results! Again, it will take years for the new patina to develop, but voila, you see what can be achieved with just two...
I had an old murray's pomade tin, but any tin would do. I put the tin in a pot of water so that it would be like a double boiler and wouldn't get scorching hot. Then I melt my wax in the container, and then just mixed in my pre-weighed neatsfoot oil. I did everything by weight, not by volume...
'afternoon All,
The spring cleaning continues! This time, a pair of William Lennon custom "steampunk" 78 TC work boots, with a fresh resole. These boots are used and have been mended: in particular, you can see where the heel was mended with metal rivets, and the leather on the right toe has a...
Good afternoon all,
Alas, it's time to part with my beloved, custom, Shackleton waistcoat. Original thread here. Reason for sale--while I love the idea of it, and take it out often, I've only worn it a half-dozen times since I bought it; my Type III jacket suits my style better.
Specs...
I'll see what I can do :D It's a medium pain to make, but I was thinking about making a new batch for myself, so if I do, I'll make you some, too :) If you like it, and there's "demand," I'd consider making a few bigger batches I guess.

I love it, although it takes 2-3 years of hard use to get it to look how I'd like it to look--didn't love year one, but I knew I was in for the long game :D Have you treated yours at all, or let it age without oiling it?
I was debating trying to sell my oil and wax mixture, but it's so easy, anyone could do it: it's just 1 part beeswax and 3 parts neatsfoot oil, wait for a hot day for the mixture to be naturally soft, and that's it. About ever 2 years seems to be the right frequency, and as you can see, it gives...
