Thank you guys appreciate it as always. After ordering pinnacle cognac sample I realized it’s not a customization option for KotR. Email sent to Holly to clarify.
One thing to note is the blattwerk mahogany sample I got was quite dry - driest if all samples - almost feel if it got wet or dirty...
Precisely why I post here to get good advice to avoid road to regret. I also consider aero resale value would be a lot higher than SB.
Decision decision decision. Sleep on this for a while. No need to rush for a dream jacket.
I’ve been wearing my HWM a lot lately and it does beg the question...
I’m very grateful to the detailed info and sound advice. I will ask Debs if she can customize the Daytona - with a back top like roadster or tailgunner. I need 19 shoulder, 22-23 chest and 20 hem.
Does your SB Daytona have tie strings on side panels like Vanson? I’m not too keen on this detail...
definitely dont want the 'unfinished' type - I'm looking for a rich tan or light colour than brown. I've ordered 4 more samples from Aero - Vicenza: Russet, pinnacle cognac, badalassi russet, and rust goat suede
a radical thought - unlined suede?
Top left - CXL HH natural
Bottom left - goat russet from Aero (too bad it’s too dark for me liking)
Top right - Blattwerk Mahogany (my fav color)
Bottom right - Mustang natural HH from SB
Hmm... you got me thinking about the Blattwerk Mahagony from Simmons Bilt again!! lighter weight for sure and breathes better I'm sure due to natural tanned. SB charges £150 for that leather on top of the £675 for standard Daytona, which is the closest to what I want (that's already £825 VS...
How come natural HH is extreme to you? I thought this is the hide that gives most character from wearing.
I do understand goat tends to look the same even after worn in.
After quite some time considering, looking at other brands here and on ebay - I'm ready to put in an order for Aero KoTR! There is something about the D-pocket and the back of this design that bugs me - if I settle for anything else, like a Daytona (with the plain back) - this will always haunt...
I’d like to ask if anyone in UK knows a shop that can replace the factory flimsy talon centre zipper on aero jacket with a heavy duty one, like some of those on Vanson jackets?
Aero told me the only other option they offer is the Universal zipper which is same size as the Talon one.
I do personally find the 'daily bumps' excessive and unfair and to the degree of annoying - from a potential buyer perspective as well - I often need to go on to page 2 or 3 to see 'genuinely new ads' which are of great interest to me.
Please, at least give it a week between 'bumps'!
Hi Guppy, I am considering ordering a KOTR, and wonder if you still have this jacket? If so would you be so kind to advise what is the collar to hem length? It does look rather short in your pics, and I don't know if this is standard, or a custom built one for shorter/riding purpose. Thank you!
I would love a tan colour goat but neither aero or SB offer it. Italian natural is too light and I don’t plan to treat it myself.
I considered pacific indeed, plus Oakland. I’m hooked to the Daytona pockets and zips design - timeless and un-modernized.
If I am not a cheapskate I’d go for Aero KOTR
This all started when I wanted an aero king of the road in tan colour! If I went for SB they only do Daytona but the back is not as interesting as KOTR.
Too many choices for SB!
This is not about Aero vs SB who makes better jackets or what’s the history etc.
This is about my experience of requesting leather samples - and I’d like to share - I was absolutely astounded by what received from Debs at Simmons Bilt.
I emailed Aero for some light color samples - got asked to...
What leather was that - the so called 'Rolls Royce coachworks steerhide'?
This was supposed to be my 'winter jacket', but today I went out in it in 18d temp, with a shirt under, and it felt perfect.
BTW I got your 'heavy heavy white CR' and just waiting for it to arrive - I'm just hoping it's...
