Thank you very much guys. Very helpful.
I’m not in a rush to buy one but want to start looking - on eBay, and on the Classified section here as well.
I thought I was fixed for life with my leather jackets already!! But then except my HWM my other jackets fit really trim at the hem which is...
I saw this straight Cal on eBay and it’s my size. I also like the fur collar! But buying for it to be sent to UK has helfty duties and postage. Asking price is 625 USD plus like 120 shipping and duties...
Hi guys
I’d like to get a detachable mouton collar made for my aero HWM.
Both aero and Byson Leathers turned down my request - aero said they won’t like the aesthetics of snaps for detachable, and Byson won’t do it without an existing collar as pattern and won’t matter even if I send in my...
I now feel so good I spent £945 in July for my KoTR! Best investment decision this year :).
I think the solution to my winter cold fear can now be very simple - I can simply wear my Canada Goose Snow Mantra and let myself sweat in it a bit!! Last year I wore it once at -10 to walk to a post...
Thank you very much that’s really useful insight!
I just saw a model Hudson Bay on aero website and it’s £1260. I thought the high cost is shearling but saw a general increase of prices across all models! 30% increase or so since summer!
Hi guys
With three leather jackets in active rotation this autumn I’m a happy boy!
My new aero KoTR with cotton twill feels perfect for 10-15 degrees range.
On a chilly morning of just above zero I put on the Johnsons cafe racer (yes that WHITE CR)! Because of the quilt linining and I can zip...
Update - have worn this jacket for about 10 times now and I try to wear on sunny days to increase the tan - these pics were taken over the weekend at a pumpkin farm - the jacket colour goes well with pumpkins!!
I’ve got trousers on just still in trainers not proper shoes /boots ;)
Thank you very much guys for the compliments! Coincidentally I got a pair of 33oz Soso jeans almost new - I did try them but quickly decided the baggy fit would make some amazing heaviest duty shorts lol. Have yet to find the time to cut them and hem myself.
I wear chinos all years in UK to...
Hey guys I just took delivery of my new KoTR! First time wearing it today taking kids to windy airfield in 15 degrees. This jacket is perfect in wind resistance and not too warm at all in fact I had to zip it up. Well I did pair it with shorts!!
See pics my children took for me.
The HH feels...
I also have an idea of patching the crotch if it wears through one day - not with cotton materials but possibly deerskin - it’s soft pliable can get wet washed, and damn rough. Will need to stitch a few circles around the crotch area. Thoughts?
So, after long deliberation I’m considering getting a pair of SoSo 33oz jeans!!! May get a good second hand pair and only if the price is right. Just want to experience this without plunging a lot of money and realize I don’t like it so heavy.
The first thing that comes to mind is, for a pair...
Thank you @Tom71 for the kind offer I appreciate that! I've got a 6mm belt to be delivered next week or so that is made from 'stirrup butt' - supposedly the heaviest duty stuff made in UK tannery that is 'hot stuffed' and saturated with fats. I'll see if then I have enough belts to play with :)...
Now that’s what I’d call a proper belt!!
Is there an online shop you bought it from, or custom made?
Wore my new beast of belt today - after stuffing it with tallow/beeswax special feed for 3 days - nice and supple and shiny now
Compare the Samurai belt to the 5.3mm English bridle belt I bought on Etsy - you can see Samurai skived the buckle end way too aggressively. They should keep 3-4mm thickness and it should fold absolutely fine over the buckle
The Etsy seller did a very good job skiving this belt - he...
Guys I finally received this belt today. Really impressed with the thickness (7mm) but disappointed at how they drastically skived the end for the buckle - it surely is the weakest point!
So I’m going to feed this belt with fats for saddle really well - stuff it to saturation - to protect that...
As a side thought - anyone can recommend heavy denim shorts that are baggy/roomy? I prefer heavier weight fabric for shorts so long as the cut is roomy enough to vent.
These are my summer daily wear - https://cactusoutdoor.co.nz/products/trade-supershorts-mens
Thank you everyone for sharing the experiences - you saved me big $$$ from not plunging in heavy denim!
These are the ones I wear a lot - they are more relaxed fit and the hemp fabric is very soft, plus triple stitch in all seams. I have 1 pair cargo, and 1 pair double knee...
The heaviest weight denim I’d worn before was around 12oz Diesel, Levis and Union. They always always worn through the crotch after two years or so of weekend wear - despite rest of the jeans still had lots of life left. This almost made me give up wearing jeans as can’t justify the costs for...
