I like the 30's HB better because it is more narrow at the waist and just looks and fits better because of that. I would give Aero, or Alexander your measurments and go with the slimmer cut. 30's HB if you're going with Aero, or the Arkansas if you choose Alexander. Both top of the line IMHO...
If you hate that ash-tray cigarette stink as much as I do, and have a sensative schnaz, you will NEVER get rid of that smell. Save the time and grief - Dump It!! You heard that song: "Ooh-ooh that smell"!
When We were kids (many moons ago) there was an Army/Navy store at the corner of my street. It had all kinds of WWII and Korean war stuff in it. You could get an Ike jacket for $1.00, and if you took it back later, they would give your buck back! Sounds crazy, but that is the truth!!
I think the hot weather would be harder on the lining with the sweat and heat, rather than snow. I also do not wear any kind of watches or jewelry, but I can see your point about the water, but if my car needs a wash I let it out in the rain or hit the car-wash! Can't wait for some cooler...
Just my preference. Have one jacket with lined leather cuffs and much prefer the cotton drill lining. You must be a lot harder on your jackets than me, never had problem with wearing out or getting dirty/smelly. Maybe it has a lot to do with a New York climate compared to Australian one!
If you like the blue leather, this is a nice choice. This color blue would look good on a Cafe Racer as well. Really like this collar style, would prefer a zipper front and half-belt back for me!
I have the Buzz Rickson, nice jacket but has Alpaca lining in sleeves, so if you're sensitive to that I'd try to find one with some other lining in sleeves. Not sure about the RM, but my BR is a very warm and durable jacket, and I'm sure there are some out there with a "not so itchy" sleeve...
They come lined in leather standard with AL, but I requested my Arkansas cuffs to be lined with the cotton drill instead. Too stiff for my preference with leather lined cuffs. You can get them either way, but come standard with the leather lining!
Sorry 'bout that aswatland, I have this jacket, and a '68 Ralph Edwards and prefer the Cockpit, but that's just me. Didn't really consider $$ and import!:eusa_doh::(
I have AL Arkansas in russet goat. A VERY nice jacket, soft and lots of grain, every bit as nice as my Aero HB. Took 3-1/2 weeks from order to delivery. I was going to order an Aero 30's HB from Insur./Thurst. but I wanted a Bi-Swing back they said Aero would not do, so I ordered a Wool/Leather...
