I think in the end it's in the eye of the wearer. I know there are rules about which type of crown, brim width,bash etc, etc. that look best with the corresponding head shape, width and all that but in the end when you put the hat atop your head and walk out the door, it has to feel right...
That's a great look Douglas......a Black or near black hat can be tricky with ceratin colors and styles, in this case though I think you've really put together something very individual and unique.......nice work...Great Hat!

I would always say to wear what makes you feel most comfortable..... even though sometimes the reality doesn't match the image once the hat is on your head .
Based on the photoshop I'd say the bowler might fit what you're going for..so give it a try.....

Hi Art.....I don't know exactly which city that pic is from. I found the photo someplace and had to save it. Except for an old school haberdashery that went out of business a year or 2 after we moved here...I've never really seen a true hat shop...

My main source has been OFAS...Always vintage. Getting harder by the day though to come across one. So after a nice Champ got for cheap , I've backed off the search for awhile.
