I have two from What Price Glory and I believe they are the best. They wear quite nice and fit very well. I have had the chance to try on a Sportsmansguide and was not impressed in the least. From the color, the cut and the fit, everything was wrong.
During the war each state had a "State Guard" that was in place. But I would suspect this is pre-war, as I think that the wearing of the blue uniforms were discontinued during hostilities. I would agree with the militia ID though. The hat badge is a tell-tale sign. I could be wrong though.
In light of my previous post: I am wearing a dark blue, red polka-dot '70s polyester tie of death today. Honestly, it seems to be a little shorter than the modern ties I own.
The knot I have is really, really thick too. Awesome!
I would say no. The Necktie is an evolution of the bow tie, it kept getting longer and by the mid/late-19th century the neck tie we know today was developing and it was never very long. It was designed to go along with the vest, which was always worn and rarely taken off in polite company. Long...
OK, so I am going to ATTEMPT to stretch my Navy Blue Dobbs. I only need it stretched a size up, from 7 1/8 to 7 1/4. So here's how I figure I am going to do it, let me know if this is a good idea.
-Steam the hell out of the felt, making sure to turn the sweatband down.
-either put it on...
Ohhhh, you meant blue hats. Well, the hat in that photo is an authentic stingy brim Stetson from the 1960s, and an exact duplicate of those in the movie, does that count?
(.....aaaaand that's all folks!)
So, I ask around about antique shops, etc. in the SE Ohio area. Well, a co-worker recommended a shop that was an easy walk from my office. I tootled on down there over lunch just about an hour ago and found a bargin of the day!
A Dobbs Navy Blue (to paraphrase the Duke of Windsor, it looks...
Cheap Rayban wayfarers, knockoffs, actually. Funny thing is they fit near perfectly over my glasses. They look good with a fedora and serve their purpose quite well. So well I am reluctant to get different glasses for fear they will not fit anymore.
I just earned a PhD in Political Science and am currently employed as a Transfer Advisor. Not a bad gig in the least, but I looooong to teach as a Assistant Professor.
I have a pair of 8.5 Cole Haan (picked up at the Goodwill...) and I believe they are a little snug on me, I could hit a size up, or perhaps a bit wider. But, for $2.00, I shall not complain.
OK, I will get it (sorry everybody!) Sorry for the late replay, we had a bit of a power outage. Let me know a form of payment, shipping, etc. As you do not have PM yet, e-mail me at

Thanks!
I am thinking about ordering the Navy G-8 from the Leather Coats Inc. site, any comments on them or their products? It's a good price and the style I am looking for.

If you have a Belk store near you, I just purchased a $800 Suit for $100, pending hemming and the installation of brace buttons. It's a nice, Navy Blue pinstripe 2-button Hart-Shaffer-Marx that fits like it was made for me. Helluva deal.
