I have a vintage 1960s stingy brim Stetson in blacker then black that is, from repeated viewings and readings of the book and movie, to be nearly the exact model.
I'll take pictures when I get home, I forget the exact specs on it.
Oh, and I did purchase it for my Jake Blues costume.
Interest
I'm thinking about getting rid of my WWII US Mountain Rucksack. I just picked up a French that fits my needs better, as well as saving towards a British Bergen (for reenactment). It's a nice piece, how rare are they? Anybody interested? It's in good shape, leather all decent. One...
Hi all, this is a size 7 3/8 ex-Ohio State Trooper Montana peak hat.
It's older and is a nice, stiff fur-felt. I steamed it a bit and "peaked" the peak a bit higher. Some very, very small moth nips, barely noticeable.
Price: $30 shipped.
The jacket could also be from a local militia unit, you know, one of those units that was more a social club than anything else? Lots of these existed up until the War in most large Eastern Cities.
I have a picture of a USAAF Officer in CBI with a bush jacket that is damn close to that. The book is, I believe, US Uniforms of WWII by Shelby Stanton. I would say it's a USN bush type or a USAAF with removable shoulder straps that are gone.
My new phone has a blue tooth and thus, this one will no longer work. It's a vintage looking handset complete with cord but with a jack to fit into your cellular telephone.
The convenience of a cell, but the vintage look we all love, right?
Right!
I'm looking for $15, plus some shipping...
Ohio is the greatest state in the Midwest! But I realize her shortcomings.
Being Dayton, I'm sure it's straight retail.
But, when in Dayton you can always do a two for one and hit the USAF Museum too!
I just picked up a Belgium Air Force overcoat form Sportsman's guide. Save for the buttons, it is essentially a dark blue British Warm.
I love those French coats too!
Surplus European overcoats..... is there anything they can't do?
I'll bite.
An impostor is what the British Forces wiki calls a "Walt" somebody who goes to length to make it obvious that they did indeed serve with the forces in some capacity.
Walt is short for "Walter Mitty", btw. It's a good description. When I wear a Regimental Tie, or my Grandpa's...
I picked up a huge number of RT ties at a goodwill in Knoxville. $1 each and some of my best ties, next to the vintage and Brooks Brothers. Sometimes I prefer to have a well made, lined tie with certain shirts. Besides, I have three or four that are labeled as Regimental and are named to certain...
Ahh, the poor neglected four-in-hand. Often a boy's first tie knot. For most of us, the only knot we will ever use. For some, passed over in favor of the knot of the moment. I have seen far more windsors and half windsors than anything on photos of sharply dressed men. (Ironically, ZZ Top never...
Some Pictures of the Sqdn Patch!
Here's Shomo with the aforementioned Snooks.
My uncle has a cloth patch of the unit, I would like to get one of the above made up.
