As I wrote elsewhere, I am waiting for my own Cafe Racer and opted for the plain back, just because i want it to be as clean and simple as possible. I hope it will not restrict my movement too much anyway.
However, again a very interesting design of yours. Btw. have you got any black jackets?
I trust it is the "Dress Blue" Stewart Tartan variant. Lochcarron makes it, but doesn't have it on the website. Here is a shot:

or click on Steward blue dress here:

however, it looks very nice...
hi Libby,
not sure if your questions were directed at me, but here you go anyway :p
I don't live in Yukon Territory, I was just there a few years ago. But it does also get quite cold here in Munich/Bavaria.
I have the cotton lining, because I bought it used (but not really used at all)...
Natural insulation plays a role ("bioprene") and so does training. I have watched a guy unload a truck full of aluminum beer kegs in shorts and without gloves (!) in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory at -22 F (yes Fahrenheit).
I am wearing my cotton lined highwayman at temps down to +14 F (-10 C)...
I don't think so. But over here (Germany) private consumption is not significantly slowing down these last few months, despite the financial crisis.
Don't ask me why, but people don't seem to believe the crisis will hit them as hard. That's at least what the polls tell us.
I just discovered your introductory thread and thereby the link to what seems to be your latest order.
They are all great jackets, but I am really impressed with your alterations! Seems like you are nailing a lot of issues and the outcome is very convincing indeed.
I have tried coming up with...
I have my Highwayman for two months now and I have been wearing it on all but 4 or days since I have it. That means rain, snow, sunshine, cold and hanging close to the heater sometimes (because it won't fit into the wardrobe).
My wife says I should apply as a professional for breaking in...
It didn't take long after I got my brown FQHH Highwayman (which I am wearing almost daily) to order another jacket from Aero.
While my last one was from their used offerings, this is made-to-order in 42.
I have ordered a black FQHH Cafe Racer in the two pocket variant with silver/nickel...
That would be almost as if you would call a motorcycle jacket a steamhorse-jacket in English. No, motorcycle jackets go by Motorradjacke in (modern) german.
However "Kraftrad" and "Krad" are still in use in legal texts and in military contexts, where e.g. a "Kradmelder" uses a "Kraftrad" to...
Very nice jacket indeed!
Not sure about the name though! "Rad" is used for bicycle in German, never for motorcycle. If you name it "Radjacke" everyone will think it's got something to do with the Tour de France and such.
A rather old fashioned term for motorcycle is "Krad", which is a...
Thanks and yes, i agree about the mannequin shots. That's another reason why pictures posted and here and Mark Moyes' site is so valuable to someone like me, who hadn't seen the real jacket.
Jack,
I have an almost new Highwayman and I must say, I can't quite understand why one would like to speed up the breaking in.
Basically, breaking in is really a sign of stress wearing the leather into a more used form. I would not choose to force this.
Secondly, I find the stiff FQHH...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I was 16 and away from home in Paris (without my parents) to work during the summer and improve my french proficiency. With that first self-earned money I went to buy a leather flight jacket, like everybody wanted to have in the late eighties. I bought this freak which...
Excuse me, I did not make my self clear:
"I usually wear suits sized 42 (EU 52) that are a little wide around the shoulders. 44US/54EU is definitely too big at the waist."
was meant to say, that size 42 is usually too narrow at the shoulders, so I have to look for irregular cut 42 jackets that...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I profited greatly from the knowledge to be found in the lounge.
I hope to add something by reporting about my experience with buying used from Aero Leathers.
I am 5'11'', 184 lbs, Jeans size 32'' and measure 43,3 inches around the chest and 24,5 inches shoulder width. I...
This is my first post on this forum and I thought i'd try to add something hopefully useful.
I received my Westway boots yesterday after having ordered them three days ago, along with what appears to be a hand-written note by the owner.
I usually wear UK8,5 or EU 43 in dress shoes, up to 9/44...
