I have learned(the hard way:eusa_doh::mad:) that you just have to be a little more careful with the old style zippers, make sure they're hooked on correctly before you pull them up! :p

The lifespan of the Borgward was 1954-62; the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, with some similarities in styling, appeared in 1955, though it had a much longer run. The VW Karmann Ghia, though equally German, always looked more French in styling to me...
I have this jacket also, and it is a truly beautiful piece of leather, with soft, grainy goatskin and a small sized (the way they're suppose to be) mouton collar and just slightly aged leather at the edges. Best G-1 for the money, and I have a '68 original Ralph Edwards to compare it with!;)
