The "Open Road"ish fedora style hats, I love are (and should) be expensive - I play music in clubs though and hate to subject them to the smoke and such. This seems like a newer hat, but I think I did pretty well for the dough...at least I can take it out without too much worry -...
Awesome. A friend just picked up this waaay cool red one - http://www.samlilly.com/Auction-Item/South-Bend-Range-with-Flat-Top-1 so now I have two folks to be jealous of.
Up until about 1961/2. You see them from time to time with black covers, especially the early 50's ones. They came on the entire range of electric guitars until being supplanted by humbuckers. You do see early 60's guilds with Dynasonic DeArmonds, including Starfires.
The guitar with the white p90ish looking pickups is a 1960 Guild CE-100DP. It was a competitor to the ES-175. The pickups are single coil, and called "Franz" pickups in the collecting community. It was my stage instrument for a long time in a swing jazz group.

....of course the beat to death telecaster is dearest to my heart. In the photo are (L-r), '49 ES300, '52 L-7, '49 ES350 /ES5 prototype (very rare, 1 of 12), '53 Gretsch 6193, '53 tele, '60 Guild CE100D
Looking forward to getting this in the mail this week! I do a lot of motorcycle riding, so the longer sleeves are sure to come in handy, and being relatively tall (6'1), should make for a better overall fit anyway. I'll post some pics on the scoot or at one of my music gigs as soon as it comes in!
It's a heck of a hat, and I am enjoying it greatly (and almost daily). When I was doing a bit of research I stumbled across this thread and decided to register
