Do any of the Fedora guru's know anything about this company? I recently won a fedora made by this company and am expecting it to arrive next week sometime. I'm just interested to know the history of this company and someone else's opinion of them, for the price I'm not too worried about the...
I've always loved Rockabilly even before I knew it was called something different the the other oldies stuff I heard on the radio growing up. I remember the day my Dad came home and tossed me a Stray Cats CD and said "Here you will like this." I did like it, actually I fell in love with the...
As a guy who buys old western hats from goodwill and cuts them down and attempts to make fedora's out of them I'd have to say that I like a bit of character and roughness to my hats. If I had a really nice hat, I'd leave the perfect crease in it alone, but most of my hats are $10 second hand...
Hi, I have one snap brim fedora, and a Stetson Temple. I snap the brim up on one, and just fold it up on the Stetson. Neither hat would look the least bit decent if I just left the brim up, I'm sure that you'd have to account for that when designing / creasing the hat.
Just my $0.02
I agree...
See I'm not a big fan of the Porkpie look on me. I also would rather my hat brims to be at least 2 1/2 inches long or longer. That I why I asked about Fedora's with snapped up brims.
Brim Up
I've heard much about snapping up your hat brim when setting it down, or flipping it over, but I'm wondering how many of my fellow Loungers regularly wear their fedora's with the brims up?
I am currently looking for a nice (and cheap), used, fedora to start wearing just this way. After...
I've always liked Kenny Wayne Shepard because it was the first CD my Dad ever gave me. I also really like Sonny Landreth, Mark Knopfler, Davy Knowles, Danny Gatton, Elmore James, Blind Wille McTell. I'm in a band that plays a lot of blues rock, and another group that does blues based everything.
When I joined TFL I was a bit surprised that these detectives weren't talked about more. Than I found out there was huge and horrible gaps in my knowlege of hats that were being discussed. Than I found out that they were being talked about in other parts of TFL (I usually stick to the hat's...
I'm 23 my interest in this culture and style comes from old radio shows and hardboiled detective novels. I also am very into Swing music, more in the vain of The Brian Setzer Orchestra, but limited to that take on swing.
My interest in hats and the golden age comes from much reading of hardboiled detective stories. I listened to them on recordings of the old radio shows.
What literary characters inspire you and your hat choices?
Personally my influences are (in no particular order) most of Max Allen...
Well I got yet another candidate for the nicest comment on my hat.... All of them have been when I'm wearing my new, black homburg. My coworker asked where I got my hat, because it was "The sharpest darn hat I've ever seen." He wanted one for himself. I think I've hooked a new hat wearer.
I'm going to have an old western hat converted into a homburg style!! It might not work out in the end but the hat was cheap enough for me to not mind messing it up, or ending up with an interesting hat!!!
Homburg!!! I love this hat, after only 2 months its starting to become part of me, people have stopped reacting to it, I guess it now looks like it belongs on my head!!
