RAF 1943 Pattern 'Escape' flying boots.

For sale; a pair of 1943 Pattern 'Escape' boots. They are a good size 10-10.5 and in near-mint condition, possibly one of the best pairs I've seen. I'll upload photos later this afternoon. I'm looking for £180 for them, this will included recorded post (to the UK, will happily post...

    British Army Motorcycle Riding Boots

It's a slightly tricky one, one which I've complicated by using "private purchase" in the wrong sense haha. Basically they were manufactured officially for the army (hence the broadarrow) and were available to officers through the army stores (etc) although the officers weren't physically...

    British Army Motorcycle Riding Boots

Very nice boots indeed, I've a pair myself. Not motorcyclist boots though. They are private purchase British Officers 'Field Boots', worn instead of ammo boots in the field. Extremely practical and generally very comfortable!

B-Beautiful in a B-10..! (The ultimate American Beauty cloth flight wear)

But surely there's a big difference between "being too well made" and "being wrong". I know that I'd rather have an item which was too well made than a jacket which was just wrong, certainly from a reenacting standpoint. Incidentally, my B10 arrived very promptly, on Friday in fact. Ever so...

Just lookin' for a little something for my Pilot's Kit

What period of the war are you doing? As for the majority of it you'd be wearing ones rank on the right handside of the collar, not the "US" cypher ;)

B-Beautiful in a B-10..! (The ultimate American Beauty cloth flight wear)

Generally they weren't found on B10's prior to October 1944, which is when the decal starts to appear in small numbers, and even until the end of the war in Europe many didn't have them. When ones goes through the photo archives of many FG's and BG's, the decal isn't there on the majority of...

B-Beautiful in a B-10..! (The ultimate American Beauty cloth flight wear)

I've had an Aero B10, which I've since sold. It was a very nice jacket, well made and extremely comfortable but being the "stitch Nazi" that I am (ww2 living historian and one that is obsessed with accuracy) I sold it and have since ordered an Eastman B10, which is due on the 10th June...

    Handkerchiefs and Pocket Squares

I certainly wouldn't worry about it, the final touches/human touch/fiddling with it tends to be the action which truly brings out a pocket squares character ;)

    When is overdressing acceptable?

No! No! Noooooooooooooooooooooo! It simply can't be true, I refuse to believe it:rolleyes:   ;) Although I agree with your point most whole heartedly, and that of Marc's.
