I have just secured a bespoke 1940 3 piece dark blue DB pinstripe suit with original braces off an Australian ebayer slightly to big for me I might add, well at least in the pants waist, the jacket and waistcoat will be fine.
I am looking forward to seeing just how good the suit looks in terms...
When was the turning point, when the average male that used to only be seen in a suit tie and hat, suddenly give up on dressing well and said its t shirts and jeans from now on. I mean my father was and always has dressed very well or at least as good has he could with our circumstances, and he...
Yes I do not think they would be Australian, the second from the right is a Sears, the boat tie is unmarked, the middle one is unmarked, second from left is marked with the name Panels, and resilient construction. And the far left is marked Carholm Cravat Gold Seal, all I believe to be are silk...
All of these I picked up on ebay at the end of last year, apart from the second on the right. I ended up paying a whopping 12 bucks.
Although I had to go and pick them up I felt somewhat embarrassed, only giving the seller that much, but hey he was happy, and so was I.
Ok have had my little moan about pricing, i will be sure to upload some of my finds that i have obtained soon, and hopefully i may be able to get some information off some of the knowledgeable forum members here on a few items.
I'll be honest i find it hard to wear a fedora without wearing a pressed shirt, dress pants and may be a good looking vest. Now that i am trying to resurrect my wardrobe, my wife thinks i have gone completly mad. She for so many years has seen me dress in casual shorts t shirts and flip flops...
Hi tonyb, mate i have my brother out here at the moment on holiday from the UK, and i would consider us both to be op shop veterans.
He cannot believe just how expensive it is here compared to the UK, which he reckons pricing is still very very good with items priced to sell quickly and not just...
Shangas.. thats a nice find, I don't know what the charity shops are like in melbourne, but here in Sydney its out of control.
The prices here are rediculous, on the North shore expect to pay anywhere from 15 to 25 dollars for a shirt, and anywhere from 50 to 300 dollars for a suit. If i would...
Are you looking for one in the UK, to save on shipping fees or are you ok with the overseas option.
Reason i ask is because i know a great site that i visit, that has a deadstock 1950 pilgrim made, porkpie for $42 bucks, with an inside circumference of 21.5 inches, it looks great..
Another beautiful looking hat, man thats one amazing color.. what would you wear that with, cream color suit, i bet you would get noticed a mile away.
Awesome Mike..
Hey casechopper the old Akubra squatter is a fine looking at, and as you would know a favourite of us Australians. Funny you should mention it as i am eyeing one up on ebay oz right now.
But although i don't own one, even though i was in the shop last week, in katoomba trying one on,the...
Thanks Cookie, i was going to mention dinner suits, tuxedos.. for some strange reason these seem still readily available, at vinnies and salvo's all be it at insane prices, but it makes you wonder why when the basic suits are not.
I picked up one only a few weeks ago on the bay for a whopping 15...
Thank you shangas for your reply, thats my reason for posting just so i can get an understanding of what other Australians think about the lack of clothing here.
I see that you reckon there was very little clothes manufacturing here, between those periods, perhaps it just all came from England...
