I thought a "remake" implied the original artist recording the song anew, perhaps in a different idiom or style (I'm thinking of Duke Ellington's remaking of 1940s' "Ko-Ko" in the late 50). (But that's just me, I could be wrong).
One stunning "version" off the top of my head which comes to mind...
"Me too" on the tomatoes. Couldn't stand them in any way, shape or form. Now I can eat occasional tomato sauce, but any whole tomato makes me gag unless each seed and the surrounding slime has been surgically removed.
Hi Jon! Wow, I did more searching and found a site listing all UK stores operating these so-called "cash railways" past and present, might interest our English cousins:
http://www.ids.u-net.com/cash/locationsES.htm
(the starred listings seem to be the still-active ones)

In England isn't there one still-existing Victorian-era department store that still does this?... (googles) Jackson's in Reading? Any UK Loungers know of this store?
Hi Barbara,
The cover suggests a worsted weight, so that would be the way to go...Lamb's Pride from Brown Sheep is a good buy available at any yarn store and online...just make sure you do a swatch first and that your gauge matches (6 sts/in and 6 rows/in)
If you really like the way the shirt fits / looks on you, you can take it to a seamstress and s/he can make a pattern from the shirt, then make exact duplicates in the fabrics of your choice.
My first job was in a photo lab, but I didn't get to do any of that fun stuff :( ...Just manning the front counter, running C-41 and E-6 film through the machines, and taking people's passport pics.
Ooh, thanks! Will definitely try it, doesn't look too complicated actually...(I work editing knittingpatterns and instructional books but never completed anything more complex than a scarf).
Re: San Francisco
There is a fellow of middle age I see in Civic Center/City Hall area all the time this spring and summer doing the full-on Southern Gentleman thing: properly fitted seersucker suit, bow tie, light hat and shoes, etc. That's it for that part of town I've seen, besides the...
Uh oh, lots of toothpastes have peroxide or other "whitening agents", that may have bleached the fabric....but if it's just dried residue that's worked its way into the weave of the fabric, wet compresses and brushing might help (assuming the fabric won't be ruined by water--if it will try...
Hi Anna,
I would love to have the instructions if it's not any trouble (and I have some web space I could upload them to, for people here to download, if you like).
Re: wearing fishnets with hose underneath
I've always done that! Great especially in the winter...and prevents the dreaded "waffle-patterned foot" syndrome.
Not very exciting...
...dull shoes, but I needed something to wear with dungarees (after I realized the red and blue saddle shoes I got last month will probably never make it out of the house)
And two weeks ago I bought a ukulele! Yay! :)
Thomas Frank's The Conquest of Cool (a very good read which discusses the evolution of advertising and male clothing in depth, among other things) also discusses the death spasms of the hat industry in the 50s and 60 (with amusing reprints of a few of the ads "The Hat Industry of America" (or...
