Wow! details, color and the crown lines in silouette look fabulous.
From the photos of Art's hat, he does an especially nice version of this crown--love how it slopes down from front to back. Is that called an F-crown?
I just might need to drop in that store on my next business trip to...
Hi Kai and all you cool cats.
I find that since a good lid traps in body heat in the winter that my ears and nose (and even feet) don't as easily get cold, even in very cold dry, windy climes like Beijing.
There is magic to a good hat.
Hi fellas:
Graham did in fact crease the c-crown, but I re-did the front crown creases and pinch. Credit to Graham for the crown. I just messed with steam to give it a bit more character.
Thanks for the comments on the natural fuzziness. Now I understand, and id does in fact have more...
Good idea, Fedoralover! I've used types of foam for years in hats a bit too large, but it's not that the size of the hat is too large, it's more like it doesn't fit enough of my head--but I'll try anyway and let you know.
David, the bow is cool--you can't see the stitches on the bow...
Hi Zohar:
Thanks for personal mail reminding me to post about this hat! You're a good cat.
I've been in some seriously exotic places lately--even for me--and trying to get off the booze for months (leading to a disagreeable edginess you have to have noticed!)...so I somehow forgot to...
Hey fellas:
Thought I'd share some pics and assessment of my new optimo nutria natural. Been in India for a while, so haven't had a chance to take photos.
Specs: size 7, brim 2-3/8, crown front 4", side 4-3/8. White liner, brown sweat. 1-7/8" black ribbon. Underwelted brim.
My...
C'mon, Robert, you know you wanted me to mention you!
All in good fun. Love to get a rise out of you and watch you take a good jab at others in the business.
Be happy, positive; spread aloha, it's good for business.
Show us some more great panamas, Robert!
Regards,
G
Brent Black--PanamaBob's favorite Panama hat guy --has recently acquired some nice cocoa cuenca bodies. Gorgeous color and texture! When I was working with Trent Johnson on a 100% black beaver aficionado , in cowboy weight, with a nice self-band and silver buckle--I'll pick that up in Colorado...
The seller at least should have called the hat....the hat formerly known as gay prince.
The hat itself is kind of cool. Would look just great with my laverder lace camisol.

You know, you're right! Geez, I had thought I had e-mailed him in the past but I guess I have never in fact e-mailed him. My amnesia. If you call him he probably can give you an e-mail address.
Anyway, not a good way to do business when even the 100% beaver western hatters all have 800...
Hi Bob:
I surely don't know as much as you, and for sure you know it thoroughly. Teach it to us?
What do you think a hat like this is like in specs? Come to think of it, teach us some more about Panamas so we have more to discuss. What are the finest weaves you can commission...
Ah yes! that reply from Rundquist was a reply to my first posting on this illustrious forum.
I've talked to Gary more than any other hatter and and have tried on some of his hats. but I've not yet had a hat made by him---I went with the Optimo based on opinions here, for better or for...
Cool! I expected that this thread would come up sooner rather than later...and frankly seems to me to be on the of the best parts of the Optimo business model: creating excitement and new demand for hats with new colors and blends each fall for the year.
When I ordered my nutria natural...
