Got a klazzy/snazzy 1930s cut-NO sideburns! A 1 tapered up to long on top with a pompadour effect (long on front, shorter/medium on back 'n' middle.) Best haircut I've got, the only guy who knows how to TAPER and BLEND and not make it look like a bowl cut is Dusty of Great Clips in Belle Halle...
Thanks a lot! But do you know the 20s widths? They had some pretty weird transition looks then, like the jazz suit and a detachable collar going out of style.
I don't know how wide lapels were from the 20s-50s. I thought from the late twenties to mid fifties wide lapels were de regueur, but in a lot of thirties movies (particularly "Bringing up Baby", where Cary Grant wears pretty reasonable, medium lapels with a slim cut suit) I see pretty standard...
I've been wondering, what were the widths of tie from the twenties to sixties? I know the sixties were about 1.5-2 inches wide, but I don't know exactly for the other decades. I see thirties-forties ties wide sometimes then medium, so I'm not so sure. Anyone know the widths?
Could anyone estimate a date on this suit on eBay? Here's the item number: 270548824130 I'm thinking early 60s, but not late 50s continental because of the extra-thin lapels-but the (I forgot the word) whole fit is high, the buttons, armholes, waist, etc.
That's my favorite workwear look too! Waist-length short sport jacket, leather or fabric, a tie with tie bar and long, curved thirties collar, ankle-height leather boots, and more formal workpants. It looks dignified while still practical
