    Military experiences.

While never actually a member of the armed forces I have many relatives throughout the various branches and I have a great appreciation for what you do. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you brave men and women for the service you have done and are doing to protect this...

Watching History Channel's "TopShot" online... I'm both inspired (by the insane shooting) and mollified: out of 16 of "the world's best shooters", 4 of them have the afore-mentioned "stupid-mark"! :D

    Night Owls only

I DID forget something important... my vintage 1943 fedora is still hanging up on her grandparents' hat rack! :( well, at least I know they'll take good care of it till I visit them next... and now that I'm in Europe again it's EXTREMELY easy to find vintage hats, so I won't sunburn despite my...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

DD, I agree completely about it being better to dress "out of style" rather than "trashy"... As to the comment: "...women ... feel the need to wear sexy clothing because they feel that the guy will like them better.", may I only say that I hope everyone on this forum knows that not all of us...

I was getting hyped about Safari rifles and was perusing another forum where a "poster" said that "express" just implies "open/iron sights"... is that true, or was this individual mis-informed? I'm really excited about the possibility that I might get a "Safari gun" and now I'm researching the...

Thank you all for the info! - Phillip A. That's why I said "real or perceived" recoil... I wondered if perhaps it hit harder with the hotter loads... and the weight of the bigger rifles probably off-sets some of that too, eh? I would imagine that a rifle of quality be it .243 or .505 Gibbs...

Looks like my kind of rifle! She's beautiful, simple, and hardy enough to get the job done! I do have a question though... while I was at my grandfather's he took me to the range with his .30-06... it kicked much harder than he implied and I (in a rookie mistake) got hit in the head by the...

TV, washing-machine, microwave, radio, car, submarine, airplane, etc ad nauseum. :D but all except the TV are things I wish I had, I just don't yet... although I'd rather a sailboat to a submarine, as cool as Captain Nemo's vessel might be... ;) (I use my grandma's washer and dryer, and drive...

    Show us your Guns!

She's beautiful!! Is there a modern company that makes these in a "shell-firing" form? One that shoots bullets or shot, rather than muzzle-loading? (Rifled or Smoothe-bore, I'm interested in either... I know about the tax stamps etc.) I know some companies made them in the late 1800s early...

Like you said Mr Vim, it's not the late nights but rather the switch back to "normal" hours that's the kicker... Tatum, [if you don't mind my asking] what kind of job has you up from 1am-3am?

Oh, you make me weak with jealousy! I was at a gun show in Orlando yesterday, and I could have easily dropped $100k on the vintage rifles! (if I ever had that much to begin with..)

First time I ever drank coffee was my adopted Albanian grandmother made me some with beans she roasted on her own fire, ground by hand, then blended over the fire... Turkish, no creamer, no sugar... :eeek: I've made my coffee like that ever since (Like you, I began out of necessity), and I must...

    Night Owls only

5th night in a row I've slept less than 5 hours... I work early mornings but haven't been able to sleep well since my sweetheart went on vacation with her folks to the Mediterranean... 6 hour time difference, so if I want to talk to her I have to stay up till 1-2 am.... I'm half asleep here on...

She's a beauty!!! Now for a good afternoon of shooting... What's the range on it? The largest calibre rifle I've used was .22/77 Hornet, and that was at minimum range, (my grandpa was teaching me to shoot as a kid) so I'm unfamiliar [and curious] with "actual" (non-hollywood) ranges on .303...

Now you should brand the boxes with a branding iron to make them "authentic"... that or you could put a metal stencil on it and brush the top with a coat of black-powder... when you touch it off it etches the whole design at once, without the time needed to heat up an iron... nevertheless...
