It's certainly mine. I mean, maybe not my ONLY, but probably pretty close. I'd rather be able to walk into a store and smell/touch what I'm buying and talk to people involved in the process. They seem to have had a sale section that's fairly well stocked across the size range the times I've...
I am. I'm the area fairly regularly and this will be my third trip to the store, so I've had a chance to try on a few and see some hides, but there hasn't been the full variety and I didn't have my eye on the particular build I have in mind yet, so I'll take some more time when I go this time...
Great advice, thank you. And I'm just kicking around ideas here... when it gets down to bring in the store with Damon, I'll likely just go cxl, as I like it very much on my current jacket from them. Of course, if he has a suggestion while I'm there, I'm all ears.
And I believe you're correct in...
Makes sense. I really just threw shinki out there as it was a leather that's on my mind, Clayton as well, but they certainly aren't the only ones (I am still planning to buy a TFH, for the fit and warmth of the black color). I've been considering having JL make an aviator cross zip in some...
When you say overrated, do you mean "bad" or just "doesn't live up" to the hype of being what some call "the best"? For me, it seems like a fine leather and has plenty of good qualities, I just don't find it to be vastly superior to other options. As good, sure... just not superior. I wear my...
I tend to agree that it's over rated, but I still like it (not love, but a solid like) and having familiarity with it makes it a tempting option for a mid weight leather for me.
Thanks for the tip on simply asking JL about sourcing the leather, makes all too much sense!
Anyone have advice on where to go to source your own hides? Say for instance, you were interested in a Shinki or Clayton, etc to provide to JL, do you just contact the respective tannery? And is it prohibitively expensive to buy just enough to make one jacket, that you might as well go through a...
Not to jump in, but I've been there a couple times now and they are super nice and very knowledgeable, highly recommend stopping in. Plus, they have a great sale rack where you might find a pretty deep discount, but if not it really helps to try on their jackets. Last time I had to fight the...
When you first got this I checked out Wingman but took too long to order one of these and missed it, so the fact that it looks this damn good stings a bit! Really nice
There's plenty of addictions worse than this, although there may be a case to be made that a single man can afford more jackets than a married one... unless you marry rich! Hahaha
I have had to wear the snot out of this Johnson Leathers jacket to get it to soften up. It's basically become part of my pajama's at home, but damn if the sleeve creases aren't set in stone. Second pic: any one else catch a glimpse of one of your jackets when the sun hits just right and think...
