So this is the result of that Nars makeup test. What do you think? I'm thinking that there's way too much blush, and the highlight under the eyebrow is too bright white. There's something else about it I don't like, but I'm not sure what it is. It might be that Nick & I look like we're...
Thanks guys! It's June 1. Katie, that picture is *exactly* what I saw in the shop! My sister has that book (I've got the other) I'll go steal it from her. I guess that's a little light for an evening look, but I'm definitely taking in that & the Kate Beckinsale next time I get my brows done...
Hey guys, I'm getting married pretty soon and I'm starting to think about hair and makeup plans, but I'm having a hard time finding pictures of good looks to show makeup artists. I want a really great 40s brow, and a really dramatic look with red lips. Color pics are more helpful for the MUAs...
Does anyone know a source for silk jersey? I fell in *love* with the most gorgeous dress in the window of Guy Laroche (White, long sleeves, boat neck, no back, tiny pleats shaping all the panels, 6-foot layered train. Vintage style with a definite modern sensibility.) and I want to play with...
Well, I have a beautiful vintage 60s pattern from a soooooper nice FLer, and I saw some brushed-gold paillette fabric in a shop the other day, and now I'm tempted to make my little 60s minishift out of that for New Year's. But that fabric looks expensive and I should really get on my wedding...
I don't think he did anything wrong, and your parties sound perfectly proper. Heck, Miss Manners wrote about dinner party conversation, and she said something along the lines of "Miss Manners always hears that one should never talk about religion, sex, or politics at a dinner party. Miss Manners...
I never liked diamonds, and was quite vocal about it, but that was pretty much just my adolescent knee-jerk contrariness and love of unusual-for-the-sake-of-unusual. I got over it once I started looking more closely at things, and by "things" I mean "diamonds."
My fiance loves them. He used to...
Lately I've been putting on a thin layer of Besame noir red, then blotting it to just a stain, then applying a layer of Besame Red over that.
I quite like the effect. It's a little browner and darker than straight besame red, but not as purple as noir red.
I think you should have fun experimenting and decide what you like for yourself! Adages are often wrong. But in my experience short hair can work wonderfully on round faces. Too long often drags the look down towards the ground. The most amazing transformations I've seen from my friends usually...
The NVL understands that what works for her does not necessarily work for everyone else, and she keeps this fact always top-of-mind.
She can and should have and express opinions about sports, weather, politics, sex, and religion, but she never gives unsolicited advice.
She is not an idle...
And rightly so!
Oh! I just realized that I am a big liar when I say there are no rules for fashion, only guidelines. It may be the only rule there is, but "No pantylines" is a *rule*.
BV - maybe it's more of a commandment.
That's really interesting, I've never met any dancers who wore underwear under their tights and leotards. It used to be the bane of my theater existence, because we got a lot of dancer/actress types (dancer/actress/model/singer/diva types) and they almost never wore underwear, even when they...
 GOK, that gown is *amazing*. I can't believe that woman let her dog do that! I would have cried!
I hope you'll post more of your projects! I adore seeing the TV patterns in action.

Ehrm. I've been in a really weird sewing mood lately, so these are my latest projects. I don't know why, I just really felt like making some giant shiny plastic dresses.
This is the Queen of Hearts. I've got a big crown and a pink flamingo covered in rhinestones with an ostrich-feather...
I was going to say no, but then I remembered that sometimes I find it necessary with formal wear. Frequently a bias-cut silk charmeuse will show even the line of a thong where it crosses the hip bone, and that's totally unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. So if that's the case I just wear...
I interned at some fashion design houses in college, and when I graduated I went into costume design. I liked my job reasonably well, but I left the field because I realized that I didn't like it enough to justify the terrible pay and hours I'd have to deal with for the rest of my life. (The...
I believe the group shoots are just done out of her place in NJ, about 40-45 min by train from manhattan, but I think she travels pretty regularly to LA, Vegas, and Texas.

I've never worked with him; I wanted to, but Rochester is a little far from my backyard. When we were discussing shooting I said that I'd do bikinis but no nudes, lingerie, or implied nudes, and that I always bring an escort, and he seemed fine with that, and we were discussing options that all...
I believe he's on the lounge somewhere.
If you're in the Bay Area you should also check out David Perry. He does a lot of hot rod girls, but he's also done some really unbelievable reproductions of vintage nudes from the 20s and 30s, so he really does get that straight vintage look. His film...
How far are you willing to go? Frank deBlase is located in Rochester, and he's very good, though he does go more for the sexy style. He's very well-known and respected. I'm sure you could talk to him about styles and options and let him know what sort of a look you want and are comfortable with...
