I was going to go with a GW, but email communication was practically non-existent. I did chat with him via phone once, but could not get in touch with him consistently via email, so I decided to go another route. I know he does jam up work though. He must be quite busy.

I do think people out there should know that the feel of different leathers can be subjective at times. Especially with regards to comparing the feel to something. What one might compare to one thing, another person might not make that same comparison.
Great looking jacket. I think it fits you very well. I know that “moment of truth” feeling. Not fun but like you compared to the denim jeans, you don’t want that perfect feel out of the box. Will take some time.

Actually, if you live in a humid climate, the leather will not dry out as quickly as in states like Arizona.
Think about it like this. Those WWII era jackets were horsehide (most) and were Chrome tanned, so they could afford being left untreated for a long time, but think about what some were...
I got to visit Wickett and Craig tannery in Pennsylvania this past summer. They are one of the two remaining veg tanneries in the US. The other being Herman Oak.
